I don't think there is a complete answer to 'why' Team USA does not do well at this event lately. Take out the freak accident and they probably podium.

I am sure Zacko himself can't understand why many of the riders that beat him beat him. But I like the 'moto media' asking the tough questions and hopefully the riders don't mind giving us their thoughts.

Yes 100% it makes it OK. If Steve is OK asking it, and Zach is OK answering it then you should be happy enough to listen to it and not be such a drama queen.

This fellas is how you see that star freshman college ballers momma move from the hood to the 1.5 mm house in a gated area, and he's driving that new Maserati with the fresh threads on his back.

Yah, I'm using a real life example of a kid who frequents my gym now and then. He's a star player.

Yeah, I know that shits not allowed, but it will never stop. That's how recruiters get you to sign and move. $$$$$$$$

Some examples and the NCAA are crazy strict on athletes taking anything, but there are ways around it.

It's crazy the vehicles star college athletes drive, no job, parents with no money yet they ball like NFL guys.

No the meaningless energy drink exhibition races are coming up the next few weekends. This thread is only about college football and people that don't even matter. Classic Vital mid week meltdown. It was the most enjoyable race of the year for me as always. USA will win again.

Hey now, don't leave out the MX industry side of the fence. For such a small niche sport, the "industry" sure doesn't have much of an issue calling the ones who pay their salaries by buying their products stupid, dumb and uneducated. Just sayin'...don't click me for it.Laughing

A portion of it is well-deserved.

Listen to Dave Moody's Speedway show on the NASCAR channel on Sirius sometime. He has no problem calling out his callers when they propose something particularly dumb.

Meaningless? One of them pays the winner $100K, but there's also the possibility of taking home a $1M if they win all three mains. Not sure how that's meaningless.

The other one? It'll make a bunch of two-stroke fans happy. If you've been paying attention around here, that's borderline priceless.

Yes. Tell that to “PhilG and His Band of Mouthy Brits” that flood VitalMX for a few weeks every year to tell American and Canadian MX fans how we should think. They could at least stick to Rugby or English Premier League of which they could contribute qualified conversation.

Its all trivial, but after his tweet , 5 days ago saying what he did, i felt it was something he needed calling . And going after Zach for his time in a session was just a dick thing to do IMO. Jesus, as much of an ass as i can be , i have said in pretty much all the threads on here that the 3 guys went about the job in the right way, it didnt pan out on the day, but thats racing, i havent bagged on them at all, or blown the GB on the podium trumpet either.
Steve said one thing and then did that exact thing himself, i think thats a bit poor.

Doesnt mean i will stop listening, but hey, everyone can have an opinion, even if its not yours...
You’re completely misconstruing what he said. Did you listen to the entire show? Did you listen to the interview with Zach where he asked the same thing? He wasn’t “going after” him or bagging on him. Simply asking, what is different about this event that causes a “Top 10 in the world rider” to struggle like Zach did.

He praised the entire team for their efforts. He also asked tough questions that no one wants to acknowledge or ask because people like you OP assume he’s a “hater” or hypocrite or bashing Team USA. At the end of the day, it’s a show to discuss our sport. You have to dig into topics and not be afraid to speak the truth, even if it means speaking about the struggles, and deal with the vocal minority that doesn't comprehend what you’re saying. How can you have a 5 hour show if you can only say “The MXoN was great and Team USA did great.”

It’s not just you OP, but a lot of people on this board and in life.... People are afraid to discuss the negative side of things or be real anymore. The fact is, we still ended up 6th and it deserves fair discussion (positives and negatives) on why.

Hypocrisy would be Matthes going on the riders social media accounts and commenting or @‘ing them saying they suck because they didn’t win. Not having a civil conversation with one of the Team USA riders asking real questions.

Boss it's just my opinion. Hope that's still ok here. The MXoN , Nationals and MXGPs mean a lot to me. So does the Supercross series. Money has never meant jack shit to me and never will. I'm a 2 stroke die hard and own 5 of them along with 3 new 4 strokes. Probably time usa goes sx only. Dry dirt only. Sunny day only. Money only....etc.

Matthes asked Osborne why he qualified where he did. Do you not think Osborne was expecting to be higher himself?

Matthes said the MXdN this year wasnt as good as previous years. Do you think he's the only one with that opinion?

Matthes said the schedule in its current form makes it hard for the US teams to keep going. Decoster himself said it costs $300k to go and Kawi already pulled its support of the event.

I dont understand what he said that was so wrong or cross the line. Maybe he put a little extra mayo on his comments to give it a bit more punch but he's not completely out to lunch in principal

Fair enough. Feel free to tune out for those...but it's your loss.

I like just about every part of all kinds of two-wheeled racing. Except maybe for when fans try and pin patriotic blackmail on the riders.

You might want to avoid watching Sam Jones' interview with Ricky Carmichael. You've heard of him, right? He makes no bones about it: he raced for the money. Not the love of the sport, or two strokes, or the fans. The money. "Show up, win, get paid, go home".

For a $1M "meaningless" payday I would not want to the the guy between RC and the checkered flag.

I have been a follower of US MX since 1974, the year i started racing, and have followed every season since, as i have with GP's , because its my sport.. I have zero interest in football(thats proper football) or rugby , despite living 20 minutes from the grounds of teams that have won the Premier League in both sports.

Thats because i am an MX fan, i race , i watch, i travel to races.

If you think you are entitled to an opinion just because of where you live, stick to your World Series of Cornhole

You reallly should have known

Well, my opinion about the MXoN '19...

There was indeed less atmosphere and crowds as previous years in GB, Italy, France,... But that could be the weather to blame. No one cheers for a full day in the pouring rain. On Saturday when it was dry, the racing was pretty good. But laptimes didn't drop that much towards Sunday. I've taken a look on laptimes when the track was at his worst (last moto of the day):

Fastest lap Qualifying race Open: 1:48.233
Fastest lap MXGP + Open race: 1:58.112

The differences between laptimes from 1st to 20th got bigger ofcourse.

One could blame the organiser for planning the race at the beginning of fall, but a week prior to MXoN it still was around 25°C in Western Europe. That's just bad luck.

As for the Matthes - podcast - whatever... Each their own opinion. You can't like everyone's, neither do they with yours.

If it was Youtstreams choices Des Nations would be more towards the Holiday season ( in the middle of the Summer ) more Zwarte-cross-ish smoke show around it as well... However, Teams voted against this plan... So there is no consenses on this point so everyting stay as it is right now.

💡Oh and Meyer is a Hypocrite as well... England ( and Mexico ) off the calender has nothing to do with the English Fans!!! IT’s the SUGAR TAX 🤫
