oh and a fun fact Cooper is a language corruption of Kuyper + New Jersey dah... wouldn't surprise me one bit If he had some Dutch roots as well.

Yeah that does look pretty sandy. Assen isn't Lommel sand either.
Cooper also won the Florida national and finished 2-3 at Southwick after qualifying fastest. Seems like he knows more or less how to ride the sand. The MX2 class isn't exactly stacked either. Geerts and TKO are probably going to be his main competition. No Prado, Jacobi, Watson, Ferrandis, Lawrence, probably Vialle neither.

Vlaanderen isnt that bad at Assen .. 2017 he was 4-4 and 2018 he was 5-2 .. solid as a rock Wink

i remember Plessinger and his confidence last year ...

and its awesome to see the dedication of El Hombre , already flying over to have more time to prepare
thats the type of rider you want to represent your country , hope he decides to race the open in lierop
any race is better as just training on a track ..

I’m sure the fact that the race is in Amsterdam is a big reason he and “team fried” are going over early. Do you think if it was in Russia he would be going this early? I hope there’s a lot of riding and training going on but you’d be nieve if you believed he was really going just to grind and sand moto down. I hope the best for team USA and this approach no matter the motivation is different than in years past so let’s hope for a different result.

I've never been Jason's biggest fan. This changes things.

I hope his dedication and attitude towards the event pays off.

Yeah 2 hr drive isn’t exactly far either, it’s basically the most popular city in the Netherlands and a tourist attraction for what goes on out there. Most out of towers will end up there as it’s a Netherlands “must see”

Lierop didnt re open, the got paperwork done for 3 races a year this year.. in March they got Dutch Sidecar and this coming weekend is the Dutch Championship 85,125,250 and 500 class. Later this year in October the got another local race.

What they Future holds i dont know. With the sidecars the already did a track cut (the split lane and pitline straight is gone)

They will be the best prepared US MXdN team for quite a few years. On paper The Netherlands are the very clear favourites but in my opinion there’s no reason why Team USA can’t be second. And if you can be second you’re only a bit of luck away from winning. Always a bit of a question mark how Team USA adapt to conditions on a track like this, but I’m expecting a strong result for them this year

Yup... Netherlands is def the strongest I am really hoping for a podium for the US.

The only way I see the US winning (barring anything out of the ordinary) is if both ZO and JA can beat Goldenhoff and if Cooper can beat Vlaanderen (assuming he gets the spot).... but the Hoff and Vlaanderen seem to be really on it lately so that is a tall order.

I just assume Herlings goes 1-1.

A few weeks on sand does not equal a lifetime on sand. Sand specialists have put in hundreds of hours and train in Holland regularly. It seems like a lot of the euros use sand tracks and Holland as their home base. Anyway, I think as talented as the US riders are with a few extra weeks to work on their sand riding will only help them on to the podium maybe. It's almost the equivalent of riding supercross... sand riding particularly in Europe is a unique and special talent that takes years to refine. Just trying to be real. Shout out to the USA team this year for the effort though...you guys are awesome!

This is badass. I love the commitment and hope that the US team enjoys its time (don‘t hang around too long in Amsterdam.. could get you in trouble with WADA) and does good at the MXdN.

Honestly for me I’m not even really worried about the results. They could land a podium, or they could finish last. It’s all the same to me. I’m just excited about the effort they are putting towards it.

As fans if this is the type of commitment, and effort we want to see we need to show these guys, and the riders not going. That this is what we want by showing these guys support, and rewarding them for the time, and energy they are putting into this.

I just assume Herlings goes 1-1.

Well last year Coldenhoff and Herlings scored 5 points from their 4 rides. Whilst I don’t expect them to do that again, I think they will be close. Herlings will be focussing all his efforts on the event and Coldenhoff is in the form of his life. They will probably score 15-20 points, which will be incredibly difficult to beat. But as we saw last year, anything can happen, the aim of the game for everyone else is to do what France did last year and put themselves in position to pick up the pieces if shit goes sideways for The Netherlands

You are thinking the Netherlands will land somewhere between 15-20?

Something like...

Herlings 1-1
Goldenhoff 2-4
MX2 Rider 12

Seems reasonable. Gonna be real tough to beat.

"El Hombre" has landed! He posted in his Instagram Stories a video which obviously is the City Amsterdam. You can watch the video folowing this link.

Wondering when we will see Jason Anderson (and the other Team USA members) on the Bike on Dutch/Belgium soil, riding/testing on sand tracks. It's just a matter of time...

Maybe Wednesday at Axel? The track got marshals with flags at training days instead of the other tracks, so that makes the track pretty popular at pro riders. I hope they chose Axel a few times, if I gasses it a bit I'm there in less then 40 minutes haha.

An American win for a so called B team in the sand can only be good for the sport as a whole in the long run.
Merican “B” against all the other nations “B” teams. Which other top team has all thier top riders healthy?

Jason Anderson (2018 450 SX Champion), Zach Osborne (2017 and 2018 250 SX Champion) and then Justin Cooper...there isn't two 450 SX champs in there.

It's not the A+ team with Tomac and AC, but it's still an A team to me. Maybe A-. I can't call them the B team because they all extended thier season to represent our country the best that they can. If we don't have any DNFs, or big mistakes, we should still win. Isn't it supposed to be a sand track? Idk about Cooper, but the other 2 practice in the sand a lot at Baker's don't they?

My favorite thing about Jason and Zach at this race is neither of them are scared at all to make an aggressive pass. If the win is possible in the last moto anything is possible. Cooper will get the starts and seems hungry to prove himself i think he will do just fine. Going over early will be huge for these guys hopefully it pays off.
