I'm sure he was pissed with his performance, but that's racing and if your racing for a factory team (which Swoll is -Rockstar Husky) you better have your mental game in check because you're gonna get humbled real quick.
Who did he remind me of? A new school Jeremy McGrath.
I go to a lot of races and I was blown away by this kid.
I’ve heard that he’s faster than his brother Hunter and now I don’t question it.
He is the real deal and you guys will see the next ‘Chad Reed’ very soon.
I can honestly see him doing very well in 250 east next year, but I didn’t ask what their plans are.
DD
Shimoda looks faster but starting so far back he's not giving himself much of a chance. He looks impressive though. Jets style though
But Jetts race craft and patience is whats separating him from the others. Crazy to think hes one of the younger guys on the gate in his class.
It’s crazy to think he is one of the youngest on the gate what’s even crazier is he’s younger than the kids at the front of the supermini class and he’s at the front of pro sport.
I think it 100% is an advantage to race not only the longer motos but older more 'professional dudes..
Also the whole telling the kids share ruts and them only wanting to use a rut if someone else is in it back and forth was hilarious, Kelly saying he's bought ruts he used to use to just hang up on his wall haha gold
I've been vocal about how good the EMX system is. I think that racing 25min + 2 lap races on the same rough tracks as the GP guys is pretty much the best development system you could get. I would love to see Max Vohland in the EMX125 class in 2020.
I do agree, one year in emx125 and/or emx2 before turning pro sounds like the best scheme, lots of racing, lots of competition, and quite long motos on a good variety of tracks.
It would not be simple to organize at all (especially with school, home school would be 10x better), but there could be some great synergies between the fastest american riders who are 16-18 and their "competitors" in europe ; many very fast europeans, especially french ones because they like sx, dream about the US but it cost a fortune to change life and race across the pond and in both continents.
So the ideal scheme would be that a french welcome an american rider in his structure, not necessarly team although it could probably interest some too, but with access to house/tracks/possibly 1 bike for like 1 year and in an american school (but probably he would need to bring his race engine and suspensions). The goal would be to race emx125 or emx2 + like the french SX tour in 125 or in mx2 plus both racing Loretta, then the next 2 years the french comes from september to february with the same exchange to get ready in the pre season and probably race the beginning of the west championship.
I thought about it yesterday, why no europeans whereas some would like to race in the US in the future? Only Pourcel and Roczen did that if I remember well, so I am sure it is about cost. With this kind of exchange, it helps the european to get experience and get know in the us, and for the americans it provides him a lot of racing experience between 15 to 18, plus a plan B if things don't go to plan in the US (example: Osborne, or Hugues, Brown, Volhand, etc).
I don't know who in the US could be ok with that, maybe Vohland, but I think in europe riders like Tom Guyon (or Thibaut Benistan) and Quentin Prugnières (or Maxime Grau) would be good candidates. P
And what I detailed is a long experience but i am sure shorter experiences could be sorted too (welcoming for Loretta, in exhange of welcoming to the european 85 championship, welcoming for european sx in exchange of the beginning of the west coast etc etc)
As for Lawrence being pro ready, like others have said I believe 100% that racing EMX plus all the nationals in Europe helped him a bunch. Those races on all the different tracks and long motos with the whole field being just a couple of seconds apart is no joke. The pace up front is hectic, as again this year we have seen top EMX guys get top 10 results in MX2 as wild card riders a couple of times.
Pit Row
mechanical DNF for Jett
But in the end it was a guy from Chile.
Definitely Honda handed this win to Husky
Real bummer for Lawrence, he was the class of the field.
