Is anyone running one of these in offroad/gncc type racing? How easy do they over heat? Anyone able to give me some pros and cons to them in this racing environment?

I’m currently riding a KTM 250XC two stroke. I was thinking of going to a new 350, but I’d really like to get away from another KTM. Everyone says these new KX450s have a free feeling engine, kind of two stroke-ish. My local dealer has a leftover ‘19, really considering it. My only worry is that it will be way too much motor for me! (Vet 30 B guy).

i don know how easy they over heat but for sure i can tell you that the engine breaking is very low, close to a 250f

Thats the first thing I noticed coming from my older gen yz450. letting off the throttle on that bike was like slamming on the brakes, really hurt the cornering. The new kx feels really free reving and easier to ride.

Anyone have any luck finding a case saver? I have always taken off the front sprocket guard on every bike I've owned so muck doesn't gather in there, and I've been riding without the stock one for a while now. I'm especially worried about this bike because of the hydro clutch cylinder being right there.

I started to lob the plastic off of mine to a more acceptable amount so shit doesn’t get stuck behind it but I got side tracked and never finished. Now I think about it every time I wash my bike and have to pry muck out of that, and see my started cut. I’ll finish it at some point

Haven’t found a case saver yet... I removed the plastic guard and reinstalled the metal protection plate using new (shorter) bolts from the hardware store. It’s probably not going to protect the slave cylinder much but will hopefully protect the case a little... Hopefully it’s better then nothing.

Question is, should I let Stank Dog ride my bike?? 😂😂

Obvious answer is yes, maybe stank is contagious? I'd take some

No his buddy Kenny usually loans him his bike

I can't comment on how it would do in offroad/gncc type racing, but I don't think the 450 will be too much motor for you. It has really good throttle response down low, but in the middle it is mellow and just steadily pulls harder up top. Have you ever ridden a newer 450 before? I'm not sure how the 250XC motor is, but my 450 is way more rideable than my YZ250 two stroke. I can ride the 450 longer because it doesn't wear me out as fast as the two stroke that has a hard hitting powerband.

I have ridden a 2018 yz450, just not it the hills. My two stroke hits hard and abrupt, which is what wears me out so much faster. I’m getting older, fatter, and slower, so I’ve got to change to a four stroke!

Well, you don't HAVE to..... but it will make it easier on you Grinning The only negative with a four stroke is that it is a heavier bike than a 2 stroke. But the KX and KTM are the lightest of them. I've ridden a new KTM450 and a new KX450, and I swear the KX feels lighter.

My good friend finally broke down after spending thousands on his 2019 CRF450r to get it to handle and got a 19 kx450. I can’t believe how long this thread is. Kawasaki needs to take note of how many people have spread the word on this bike resulting in a purchase!

And if anyone at kawi is watching I will take credit for starting the thread and wouldn't have a problem if I got paid with a 2020. Cool

60 years old, and love riding moto my 19 Kawi!

Goodies... Vortex ignition, Rekluse Torque Drive Clutch, Full PC TI exhaust, Ride Engineering link, Pro Taper fusion bars with XTRIG PHDS Mounts, Raptor pegs, Roth suspension valving.

Couple of shots with the phone, while riding with fellow Kawi rider Dan Colvin, who put on a very fun ride day today!

Silly question but besides plastics/graphics. Did kawi change anything on the 450 for 2020? Like suspension settings etc? Its hard to find info.

What is the toque spec on the two nuts on the exhaust flange? I looked through my book and it’s not listed and I don’t have the service manual. Installed a PC Ti-6 yesterday and it’s the only torque value I’m missing. Any help would be appreciated

Nice, how you like the vortex, pc pipe? Compared to stock, bark more? Any gearing changes? Fuel? Thanks.

I ass dyno'd some t4 yesterday back to back with 93 I know people will say I'm nuts but the t4 added power and throttle response... I noticed it the most when rolling on the throttle in 3rd gear..
