Losing Nicky was heartbreaking and something well beyond "disappointing" for a lot of us.
It was tragic.

As for a true disappointment?
I'd have to quite easily point to the Mismanagement and "After-burner" method of burning thru capital by the folks that ran Alta Motors.

I'm not talking about the regular Joe's & Jane's that made things happen and got the real work done. There were some really great people who fueled that place and, indeed...the brand, with their passion.

The folks at the top ran that ship into the ground.

Even tho i know jackpoop about Alta's inner workings the overall numbers are out there. The age of small independent manufacturers is gone.

Really name one company in motorcycle or car industry that started in this millenia and is independent and floating above water. Not speaking about electric vehicles being not profitable without subsidies...

The "Malfunction at Alessi's lasershow" was NOT a "disappointment"! That show produced some of the best Pulp-MX and Vital-MX HOF content of the decade!

The biggest dissapointment for me has been the spell of injuries that have hindered so many top riders stopping them from being as dominant as past riders and not living their full potential

Namely Herlings and Roczen

Tomac has also been dissapointing IMO, like JS7 said, I don't see why that guy doesn't win every race, he totally deserves multiple SX titles and should have 1 or 2 by now.. but it is all to his own doing.. but still unfortunate, I feel he should be the 'legend' of the current generation of American riders and join the list of McGrath, Carmichael, Stewart, Reed, Villopoto, Dungey..

I still struggle with RV in the GP's. If any of our guys post RC had it in him to go over there and make a legit run at the title it was RV. I get that there will always be the issues of why he went, how prepared he was, and if he underestimated the quality of the racers there (none of that coming from RV but fan speculation) but damn. I still believe strongly that a well prepared RV who was there to really make a 100% effort run at the title would have a shot at it but that's just my opinion and the scoreboard says what it says. The upside is that a top US guy had the balls to go, brought attention of far more American fans to the GP series, and that he took the result like a man without making any excuses.
