Thought he rode well and was penitent about his performance hitherto or lack thereof - who sees him him higher than 8th this year? A lot of you said he wouldn’t break the top 10.

Sounds crazy but I’m thinking if he keeps it up he will finish 6th or better overall this year.

Good ride. Hope to see more, but my expectations are very tempered.

Yep, he actually gave an effort at Pala. Guess he finally figured out that he's out of a ride next year.

Come January, he'll be doing bong hits with his brother, JLaw and Hanny while bitching about the system being rigged against anyone who isn't a robot.

Maybe he will write a song about it.

Smooth hard packed track with many jumps. This track was made for him so dont wait him to get same results when track gets rough or happens to rain. I didnt think he would do that good in Pala but im happy to be wrong because he rode great.

Smooth, really? Just about every rider mentioned that the track was rough.

He is a sx champ. He must know how to ride a dirtbike. Some here are being too harsh on a guy that is actually riding top level for some years consistent and has many wins and a title. Why anyone doesn’t talk shit about Eli even if he fucked up another season in the stadiums. Nobody talks shit about Barcia that he is struggling these last years. When it comes to Hill, okaybits that kid again. He is all about freeride and shit with jlaw. Smh

I just re-watched the 2nd 250 moto and there is a lot of small but harsh stutter bumps everywhere! The front runners make it look easy but it was very rough. Martin was charging hard trying to pass for the lead but his rear shock was bouncing around like a pogo-stick. Hard to imagine how they missed on the set up that bad.

He improved a lot this season. No wonder if he will finish strong.

If any rider takes steps to make an improvement and starts getting better results, then I’ll cheer for them. I hope Hill keeps it up but I’m skeptical.

I think the track was jumpy and he got a vibe, hence the decent effort and results. When he's in mile-long ruts at mile-high elevation this weekend let's see how he goes....

Sometimes getting back to basics can be the best thing for you. Not a fan of his but at least he might be trying.

I was in the pits right when the second 450 moto ended and Hill looked good. Some media people threw a camera right in his face right when he got off his bike and he didn't look winded. I bet he will be in the top five soon.

There were a few other riders that looked really rough after their motos, but I won't mention who they were.

Hill isn't out of shape or lazy. Those who work with his sponsors know this. Not making excuses for him but to say he doesn't give a crap or isn't putting in the effort just isn't true. The kid is busting his ass during the week and his fitness is good. I find it funny how everyone is bagging on him but nobody looks at JGR. That team has been a career killer since day 1. Name 1 rider who improved after going there... I don't know if its comfort on the bike or what, he just hasn't been able to put it all together in his head. I hope he does. He's a good kid and is a personality. He has a lot to offer the sport if he can get it together.

I thought he did a great job, it was nice to see him actually look a little bit more relaxed during that interview.
Screw em all, just find your flow and relax... it does wonders!

How do you see JGR as being a career killer? Most of the guys they pick up are either top-20 guys who are just good enough to get a ride, or are basically guys on the way down from an OEM team position and are on the way out. Heck, Reed is only there because he's either burned every other bridge that would give him a factory bike, or they think of him as a has been and on the way out.

Great talent like his bro..but mentally weak compared to the elite - no shame I suppose - there can only be one Winner...he does not have the grit to be a 450 champion...a Leopard has spots for a reason...because that is what they are. No changing it.

I don't think anyone has ever questioned his talent. I specifically watched him at his first 450 SX in Tampa and he may well be one of the most gifted riders out there right now. What he lacks is the will to put it all out for racing. As DV says he's not willing to eat SX, sleep SX, shit SX, F@ck SX.

Even Reed said that at the test track him and WP would have the track dialed where they couldn't go any faster and Hill shows up and drops 2 seconds a lap off their best times off the truck.

Absolute world class skill, but puts the effort of a guy that may want a music career.

I always chuckle at how riders suddenly start "figuring it out" as contract season nears.

He said he finally started listening to Josh and his dad, and we've heard that the JGR guys, including JA, can't seem to get through to him. I won't be surprised to see him near the front a few times this summer, but I don't think it'll be enough for another factory-level ride next year. Too little, too late.

Based on the the entire year, I would put him behind Wilson, Bogle, Musquin, Seely, Reed (for SX) and Savatgy, but ahead of Davalos in the "factory riders without a 2020 contract" list.

He does just the bare minimum. He only wears 3 pieces of flair. He will be a privateer next year.

Does anyone know if he’s signed anywhere or talking to anyone for next year? Question I’ve been thinking about lately, after listening to his dmxs interview and hearing other podcast talk about him...does a team take a chance on him next year and sign him to a performance based contract? Im talking top tier team/equipment, total performance based structured deal/contract? Dude has skills for days on a dirt bike, that’s undeniable, all the other stuff...

This. And I would put Davalos ahead based on his 450 effort last year. He killed it. I also don't see how this has anything to do with JGR outside of making a suspect hire, but JGR ain't twisting the throttle or putting a gun to his head to be ready for the 450 class. He has a factory bike and all the necessary supports in place. I thought the RacerX was interview was painful, personally.

Weston eats, breathes, fucks, and sleeps moto. Can the same be said about Hill, or are we just using the excuse that JGR is a career killer team?
