I know, I know. There’s no real alternatives to Matthes in a can, but which products have you folks found to rival it?

My local dealer doesn’t carry it, so sometimes I like to try things on spare plastic to see how they work. I tried some Mother’s stuff last night and I’m pretty impressed on the results.

Mothers??? You mean that Meguiars tire shine??? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

zMax makes a silicone spray comparable to SC1...... I'm not so sure regular tire shine is comparable to SC1.... I could be wrong though

Rock oil has a bike wax spray. Way better then silicone based that gets slippery. Smells freaking amazing to, same level as SC1 on smell factor.

If you just want the black parts to shine, take any silicone or Teflon based spray, spray it on a car wash sponge and wipe on the bike where needed.

Slippery? Only time I've seen that is when you don't wipe the SC1 away.

It is silicone, that what makes it shine. If it shines, it means there is silicone on the surface.
Wax, way better. Can use it on seat and side panels without losing grip.

Do you guys spray this stuff on the entire bike(Engine, seat, fenders etc etc) to make it look nice or just under the fenders?
Wouldn't that tire shine stuff be goopy and collect a lot of dust like it does on car/truck tires?

Anyone use WD-40s bike shine stuff?

SC1 I only spray on the plastic and rims. That's it. I let it sit for whatever time it says on the can, then I wipe it off.

I detail cars for a living so I’ve used quite a lot of products here and there as trial and error. This stuff is amazing for door panels and all plastic/rubber trim. I pay roughly $3.25 per can from my supplier which is much much less than SC1. Works like a charm. I spray it on every square inch of the bike besides the grips. P.S. if anyone is from western PA/Eastern OH, you should know where this picture was taken.

I normally use Lucas oil slick mist and this one might sound crazy but some of the Chemical Guys stuff for vehicles actually works really good

Bel Ray makes an SC1 copy but they made theirs odorless. The motul shin n go kicks ass i think its better than sc1 because it doesnt get overspray where you dont want it. Silkolene makes ProPrep2 which is similar as well. A good question is why your local dealer wont carry sc1. Maxima sells so good and dealers can get good margins on it. And why not carry what the loyal customers are asking for? Its not a 6D helmet or anything

I use this on everything except the grips, makes black plastic look new again such as the tank and airbox. I spray my tires down and let it soak in and then wipe the excess and the rims, even makes the frame look good. Not greasy and does not attract dust at all!

Great product, but it’s kinda pricey isn’t it ? I use their products on my spa cover and used it a lot on my boat before I sold it.

It’s 20 bucks for the spray bottle, 37 for a gallon refil bottle on amazon. I have had that bottle in the front for 8ish months and have about an inch left on the bottom so it goes a long way. I really let it soak into the black parts that get abused and what I like is that it doesn’t really coat the plastic but some how it soaks in and just makes it look new again without a film.
