If they have a "next best thing" mentality, or even a "next rider up" thought, would they want to help Eli win? Or would it be better for them to not give him what he's looking for in a bike so he doesn't win, and maybe even hurt his confidence in the process?
Not saying that this is 100% what's going on, just asking the question.
It definitely wouldn't hurt their wallet.
Elaborating on the GAD that I believe he has (generalized anxiety disorder), assomeone who also has this I see some of the “traits” in his interviews. I do not know if he does, but this is my guess. There are different severities, but if you have panic attacks this could explain him dropping the anchor. Ive almost blacked out and thats with 0 physical exertion. I can only imagine how in sx you have the massive crowds that are so close, and everything you do they cheer, so you can “feel” their eyes watching your every move. It seems when something big happens between him and another rider is when he drops the anchor or if he falls.
Everybody has anxiety or can panic, but the actual disorder makes it so at the snap of a finger your heart rate maxes out completely. Then it skips beats, pauses, flutters, and your ears ring, grey out/tunnel vision, numb fingers, completely out of breath... His mannerisms have always struck me as someone with anxiety, but obviously I cant know how severe. But if he has a panic attack out there that would explain why he runs out of gas at the snap of a finger when something big happens, why he makes those small mistakes he shouldnt make, and “drops the anchor”.
If u think u messed up, and you feel the whole 40 thousand peoples eyes watching you fumble with ur pants for example, youd almost grey out. Come to think of it theres been a few times he upped and left when seemingly uninjured. When Id be in class or something and felt a panic attack coming on there wasnt a person on Earth who could have stopped me from getting tf outta there, I would have gladly fought to the death to just be able to get air outside by myself and regroup.
Eli acts like he has made a life decision and that part of his life is on the horizon and the racing part of it is over and it no longer has 100% of his focus.
He's moving on.
Tomac has been hearing rumors and a certain investment maybe the last straw.
* This year, Tomac reminds me of McGrath riding outdoors in 1997. He was so "over it."
* It is my humble opinion that Ryan Dungey would have no trouble winning the championship this year, if he was racing it.

Seems pretty straight forward to me.
Pit Row
Not gelling with the bike gives him plenty to be anxious about on the track. He's not performing up to expectations and isn't comfortable enough to push to his full capability. That sucks, and he must either "get over it" (which is far easier said than done), or find a bike/team that works better for him.
Post a reply to: Oh yeah no doubt anymore something wrong Tomac-here’s why
