I actually thought Plessingers been the best of the rookies, while Savatgys had some top rides, AP's done exactly what you'd want from a rookie- solid, gaining experience and learning while still being competitive, and until now, staying out of trouble.
Lucky I don't have that problem anymore haha
You nailed some key words here that support this whole discussion about the blue 450. And as you change weight/mass/torque and angles, things change exponentially. Not once have I seen anyone ever talk negative about the blue 250, because it works really well. AP and Webb both ripped on the 250, but they clearly aren't/weren't comfortable on the 450. Stats don't lie.
I had two years where I had that “twisting your ankle” pain and for several years I could get an ache with weather. Today I hardly every notice it although I’m 60 yo now and not as active. I never was a runner but I never noticed a problem on the bike or bicycle. I did recover some subtailor joint movement (the slight side to side rocking ability in the heel) and the doctor said that was pretty unusual. I think my good results are a result of electing to do a surgical repair and having the right guy with great skills do it. The initial orthopedic i saw just wanted to put me in a cast. He said he didn’t like to do surgery as he said that the foot was pretty intricate and he hadn’t always had good results.
Hopefully AP’s got a simpler fracture like mine and didn’t explode the bone like can happen with possibly worse long term outcome. However the orthopaedics these day can do some phenomenal things, just look how well Roczen has done considering his injuries. I wish him well.
Can’t base anything from 2 accidents.
I doubt there is a boot manufacturer that spends the $$$ in safety research more than Astars
