It's important to listen to what his mom has to say, and what Colin has to say during that part of the interview, eye opening I feel really bad for her. She's obviously going through hell.
Hopefully this will have a positive outcome.
I appreciate what Colin is doing.

So Nico ihas been very public with his life through instagram, but there are many, many people who no one knows that are struggling (and maybe some former pros that we know that are struggling but we don't hear about it), and I'm thinking of them as well.

She actually mentions Vital specifically, making me realize that what we talk about in here does have consiquences, making me regret some of the stupid things that I've posted in the past, although never anything negative about Nico, I've definitely posted some stupid shit at times(thumbs up? ).

Colin Morrison is doing some great work on this topic that is badly needed! Huge respect for that.

By that you mean Nico? This is much more than Nico.
Careful, someday you may not want someone to give up on you.

gotta be careful with that advice. given in the wrong situation can cause young folk to spend wayy too much time on/with neurotic borderline mates. life's too short.

Scummy is fearlessly truthful, you cannot back away from that level of truth.
Maybe people here that know addicts should introduce them to Scummy's material- it's really good. You would be surprised at the names and stories you hear in there. I have listened to a bunch of them and in an industry full of BS, it's refreshing.

Thanks for posting the link. I just emailed it to myself so I can listen later tonight.
I am dealing with an addiction issue with my very own 16yo son and it is frankly the toughest most frightening thing I have ever experienced in my life. Times have been very trying lately.

I used to be one of those guys that said "oh fuck him he's a dope head idiot with no self control blah blah blah"
Until it truly touches your life and you spend a year or more learning about and working on the issue at a VERY personal level you will never understand.
Best of luck man. Hoping everything turns out alright.

I listened to it. My take away from it is that he knows he fucked up, and is prepared to face the consequences, but he still has the mentality that he doesn’t belong in jail.

TJ , I wish you the best of luck dude , I mean that with all sincerity. I've come to find out over all the people I have dealt with , it boils down to one thing....them! They have to be the one that wants to quit. No matter what anyone says or does , if their mind is made up , there is no stopping them.

If you or someone else can change that person's mind , they you have a good chance at winning the war , not just the battle. A long time ago on here , I posted a thread about my buddy " Brad Parnell ". I tried everything I could think of to help him , for years , and he just kept getting worse. He is one of five friend's I've had that died from drugs. Countless other old friends of mine are still out there doing it still to this day. Every person that has actually cared for them , have tried over and over and over.....some straitened out , some still haven't.

It fucking sucks! A family member is someone you obviously never give up on , but even family can push the envelope to far.

I think it's a good thing that people are starting to talk about drug addiction in mx. Seems like there are two sides. One is that a lot of people who are crazy enough to ride are also drawn to a wild lifestyle in general. The other is when guys get introduced to pain meds and are not given the resources or attention to ensure they don't get pulled into it, then they end up addicted.

It's opened my eyes to it and helped me to be aware of what can happen to my son or others around us. I think that's a good thing.

I try to reserve my judgement from guys like Nico, Stroupe, etc... I don't know them, the details of what they've done, nor the things they've gone through. What I do know is that I loved watching them ride and they put their lives and their bodies into developing that skill. I give em respect for that and let the rest be whatever it is.

You don't need to worry about who has given up on you if you don't give up on yourself.

This Izzy interview would be a lot easier to listen to if Morrison would shut the fuck up instead of talking over the person he's interviewing. Scummy loves to hear himself talk. Plus he's stepping all over his own dick defending Nico and trying to convince us that he's not a scumbag. Nico comes off like a whiner who doesn't think he should be in jail. It's fuggin' exhausting. I've known plenty of people who were addicts and they didn't resort to ripping people off, or beating up their girlfriend, or stealing her dog. The fact that he's currently in the hole from fighting tells me that he's probably right where he deserves to be.

Just because a guy once went fast on a dirt bike does not make them a good guy, or a role model.

Be careful.with facts on vital man. All the defenders are the reason he keeps doing it. Feels untouchable and defenders will come to his rescue again.

I feel your pain, my Brother......There's not much worse than watching helplessly as
your kid is going thru detox.....My older son will be 40 this year, he went down the pain med-to-heroin
rabbit hole, 5 years ago he started to turn himself around, & God willing he can stay clean......
So far so good- Good luck to you-

I thought Colin did a good job. If you listen to other sports interviews, or any other interviews the interviewer often steers the conversation to keep it on point. Besides, I don't see anyone else stepping up to this, much less acknowledging it. Good for him. Also who better than him, no one can say he doesn't know what he's talking about.

As far as me, I don't really matter. But I do care about our sport and the kids involved in it, they are the ones that matter.

Honestly, I'm surprised JA, or DV haven't chimed in on this, but I don't blame them, it is a hot potato.

I don't dispute that addiction is a subject that needs to be fleshed out, I just question Colin's habit of patting himself on the back. "Hey, my credit score was 350, now I'm 780!" is a little bit much. I get that he is showing people that it's not that hard to be a solid citizen without drugs, but it just seemed a bit too "LookyMe" for my taste. He also came off a bit condescending when talking to Mrs. Izzi.

I felt like he was a little uncomfortable with some of the things that she talked about. But good for her, she's definitely been on the inside of Hell.
I think she's a good and strong person.

Colin is just trying to show that it can be done, to give an example of a success. story to give someone hope that it can be done.

Interestingly, and not to derail the thread, but this is why I have rooted for Nico in the past, at the expense of getting hated on here
I want him to succeed to give hope to others.
This is also why I have rooted for Ken, because after all the shit he's been through, if he can win again that gives a positive story for someone overcoming an injury. That's why I hope Weston can come back.

I dont want to spend an hour typing but i’m sympathet To Nico and believe that addiction is not a choice. It just reaches out and grabs you. We will see Nico around again. For what its worth.....izzi was racing at a track in Illinois about 2 years ago and pitted next to me. The guy just wanted to ride just like me. Hopefully he will be back as a moto enthusiast. Nice enough guy......

Some of you need to shut your fraking cake holes and see things from other perspectives besides your own. His mom literally called out this site and our bullshit as being hurtful to her. For that.....i’m sorry that she saw that.
