There was no malice here folks and that should and will play a role into potential liabilities. Certainly doesn’t absolve anyone from responsibility. Just hate to see this for everyone involved.
Not good for the sport.
That link is a Material Safety Data Sheet that is a requirement for all chemical produced. It list the compounds, safety, handling, health affects and many other things. You may want to take a gander at it before comparing it sending it off a triple. It’s more than skin irritation and can blind you in the right concentration. For more than what happened Saturday lime should not be used ever again as a drying agent. I bet riders and staff that are now somewhat educated on it are now remembering all those eye irritations, throat irritations and the like.
This was the perfect storm that surfaced a much larger issue to exposure that is unjustified. I am befuddled that the order was to put lime down after they uncovered the track knowing that a downpour was headed towards the stadium. They were talking about it on raceday live and showing the radar in the stadium with the line of storms near. Even with the drizzling the skidsterers were still working the track up to the point where bottom fell out. At what point did they think the grooming and the addition of lime was going to “save” the track 1 to 1.5 hrs before the show with a line of sever rain within minutes of falling. I was watching the two skidsteers mix the pile of lime and dirt mixture they had set aside for filler as the rain was falling. I know these guys were just doing as they were told but I am curious as to who calls these shots. Don’t need names just the position or positions has my interest.

Then when I saw the mudfest I was thinking how do you even clean that up after and Petco Park/Padres must love seeing mud flung everywhere.
I never imagined that it would be allowable to add such an enormous amount of lime to the dirt. California has a regulation for everything so I’d be surprised it’s just ok to add whatever chemicals you want to the dirt. If there are no regulations I’m sure there will be a bunch now.
If Feld gets sued, they are are going to argue no involvement or counter-sue Dirt Wurx. Feld has deep enough pockets that they could easily severe ties and bury Dirt Wurx in legal costs for years. They'll just go out and hire another contractor.
My thought is Feld is busy working with their legal team on how to address the issue because an improperly worded response could hint wrong-doing.
You really think KRoc won’t show up to race because he’s got caustic burns?
Privateers want to race too.
Feld will apologize without apologizing tomorrow. And they’ll say they’re taking steps to work with whoever so that this doesn’t happen again either by seeking out an alternative to lime or using it more judiciously. They will also state that the safety of the participants and fans is their top priority.
And Supercross will go on.
To all of those asking "why did they put down so much lime if they knew it was going to rain"
A freak chain of events.
No one in that stadium had the background or knowledge to say the standing water might be acidic, we need to test.
Feld is the promoter, Dirt Wurx is the contractor. Guarantee the contract between the two has some sort of clause that safeguards Feld from anything dirt related.
Pit Row
It’s a bad situation, if anything, count it as a lesson learned and hope they explore other options for either domed venues or alternative drying agents.

I would say guess someone is going to pay big, and hopefully, it doesn't affect the series. Where are all the Vital Esquires who can confirm?
