Him and Roczen have been staying podium to 4th while everyone else in front is a revolving door. So theyre riding smart. Webb is 3rd in points now too!!

Naaa... I thin Eli is doing it smart this time around, I bet they talked about it in the off-season for sure! This is uis best stsrt to a season yet honestly, I think he realized he can win the championship without winning every single race, he can sit comfortably in 2nd and 3rd all season and still get the plate! I mean look what happened the last 2 years he literally ruined his season in the first couple weeks both years... I honestly think he's chilled out and knows he don't have to burn everyone every weekend like he's capable of doing! I mean look what happened in moto 3 when he got a great start and had no one in his way he just pulled away from everyone in classic Tomac fashion! He's good to go man, he's just being smart about it this time around... He don't want no more 8-10 win seasons without taking the plate!

Just looks like a dude who knows he's got something to nurse and is being conservative and not throwing it away. It's a good thing for him, bad for everyone else. Injuries heal up.

Pointswise it has been a solid start to the season for Eli. But like RichardLoots said, he isn't able to come through the pack and his starts haven't been as good as last year (best average start position of all the riders in 2018).

The good news for him is that there is not one single guy that is running away with this thing. The field is close but the absolute top level is not what we're used to. If Eli can find the early and mid race speed from last year and the starts, this thing will be over by round 10.

Edit: I forgot about Marvin. He is also in a good place considering how far off 100% he was coming into the season. He will be in the fight for it.

He went from 12-4 in the second main tonight if it was a full 20 minutes he would have made some more spots.

LOL, he is having one of his best years points wise. Smart and grabbing points early. Nothing crazy, stop acting like a spazz.

Dungey and lastly Anderson won titles this way.

His doing exactly what villopoto used to do, ride around get points and wick it up when the series goes east into the softer dirt.

Deeper and stacked field ever, tight and technical tracks, it's the same for every riders. You're in the chaos, you struggle. You're not in MXGP, start dead last and finish first it's just impossible in SX this year imo.

We had a mudder, a slick track, and a track that raced like an arenacross track. He is on a new bike and no need to push things yet in such a long season. Moto 3 showed Eli has the speed the lap times dont lie. He is right where he wants to be.

Looks to me like he might be nursing an injury. He is my pick to win it all this year. Even with his “slow” riding, he is just 2 points away from the red plate.

The big question is what is going on with Anderson, Eli is fine.

They went back to running "tires" instead of "tyres", so he will be good to go from here on out. Tyres don't work well on US tracks.

What's making this season so great is that Tomac, Musquin, and Anderson are clearly not 100% and are working back from injuries.

We don't know the extent of any of them so it's still a mystery whether any of them will rise to the top.

Also.... Roczen seemed to be pushing last night but made a bunch of mistakes. How will that change his strategy moving forward?
