That was a huge crash. He always goes for it. Crashes a lot. Unfortunately this will happen sometimes when that's your style. Hoping for a speedy recovery. Side note: What is the determining factor in red flags? Malcolm here was in a bad spot obviously and they tended to him for awhile. Roczen was in a similar spot two years ago and riders just rode around him for a few laps. My guess is Roczen could walk and Malcolm couldn't. I would expect both to be red flagged personally, but was just curious if anyone knew the actual protocol. Or if they just make a judgement call on the fly.

RC has known Malcolm his whole life, and he was obviously shaken up by the crash, just by listening to his voice. I wonder why nothing was said about Malcolm, their history, "hope he's ok" or anything like that. They just seemed to be shellshocked by it. All RC really said was "man!". It was scary because Malcolm is such a positive dude that nobody wants to see him badly hurt.

I was there at the race and he was going so fast thru those whoops it was crazy. Its like he fed on the speed and how the crowd reacted when he would make a pass so he kept going faster and faster. Him and his brother they just don't hesitate at all when they go into those things...its insane He missed one and got that kick and that was it. I was thinking these guys are going to need to figure out how he is doing this until I saw that crash.

But he's right. Reminds me of myself. Crashed all the time. Won some, Lost some but I gave it my all every fricken Moto. I'm by no means as fast as Malcolm but I get it.
Dude wants it more than anything. Hope he heals well and gathers himself... has as good a ride as he does now and Kicks ass in the future.

Where did you hear that? Didn’t he have a chain problem during one of the recent off-season races?

After watching the replay it looks like he gets bucked and accidentally holds it wide open and absolutely friggin ROCKET SHIPS across the whoops to a faceplant. He was going so fast that 2 whoops from the end he wheel taps off his front wheel and clears the whole gap after the whoop section and lands at the top/downside of the next jump. Thats probably a 35ft gap from a front wheel tap that he friggin cleared...

Ive never seen someone going that fast in a whoop section...ever...he had to have pinned that 450 by accident. Maaan I hope hes not too badly banged up. Seriously if you watch the highlights n compare to others laboring through them the fastest guys r going like 15mph hes going 45. Hes EASILY going 3x as fast as the next fastest, probably by accident there though.

https://youtu.be/BoHHY_EZRAw It’s in the highlights. I was there tonight, he was hitting warp speed in the whoops.

Don Maeda confirmed, and if you watch the replay it’s pretty easy to see what he could have broke. I’d add concusion on to the list of injuries too.

No broken chain. You can see that in the video. Bad crash going Warp 10 in the whoops. I hope he has a speedy recovery and gets back to this form. He looked fantastic!

Well the actual call is up to the race director, but generally a red flag will come out when the injured is im-mobile and in the track. When he crashed tonight and I saw that he was seriously injured I knew right away they’d red flag it because the whoop section was between the finish line section and a long rhythm section. No way to really care for your patient when you have bikes racing on either side of you.

Mike Genova makes sure his guys are well covered from what I hear.
This and he is pretty loyal to his riders too. Freakin sucks for Mookie man. Does anyone know if Big James or momma stew have been coming to the races with him or has he been alone?

Could someone please confirm the injury to Malcolm please?

Holy shit he had some momentum there. He almost made the gap between the last whoop and the next take off! This sucks big time, was really rooting for him. Hopefully this isn’t the last time we see him out there racing. Speedy recovery Mookie!

Are you sure he wasnt going 100mph and 10 times faster than the next faster rider ?
you seems a little conservative on your guesstimate...

rofl he was passing friese in th whoops, not a fast rider, and he wasnt THAT much faster, yeah he was fast but the differential with other wasnt critical. Saving a 6th place and passing Friese wasn't worth a broken femur...

With malcolm style it's just a question of when he will injured himself.

Hate seeing riders get hurt, hope Malcolm mends up 100% real soon. Every rider we loose takes just a little away from the season we are in. Hecwas on a roll too, look forward to seeing him back on a bike.
