Chain still intact. What everyone is seeing is the yellow Dunlop tire sticker.

Wrong. Chain was intact and not the reason he crashed.

God damn that was a brutal hit.

How far did he fly from the end of the whoops to the face of the jump? 20 feet? 25?

He is definitely on some serious pain medication to be doing that without a grimace on his face.

If they did put rod inside you could slowly start walking. Pain would be high just imagine getting dead leg from crash alone. Hope he stays off the bike long as it needed. Herlings came back too soon and had problems while trying to win MX2 championship couple year back.

Full weight is not recommended so quickly.
I remember getting out of bed and going to the toilet on day 2 and it was a mammoth task... but I somehow think his pain medication is maxed out in comparison to what I was given here in japan. Japanese medicine is weak

My mother, who is 80, had her knees replaced, one at a time, but the practice is to get them up the same afternoon as the surgery. Seems nutty to me, but that’s medicine today I guess. My wife is a surgical recovery nurse and told me once, “you don’t want to see the procedure, they are brutal in how they go about it”.

Has it actually been stated anywhere that he did break his femur?

Yes, from numerous sources, including this website and Malcolm himself.

I had to sleep a whole night with my femur all twisted up because the plate they installed was getting shipped to the hospital. The pain meds were so strong i actually slept on my side.

Its not weak, its just cause the japanese are small....haha...my dad and I joke all the time about that being he is japanese and he just went in for upper neck surgery. He says the facilities are second to non but the medicine is weak. Im half german/japanese and a big boy and dont see myself flying to Japan to be on a level 10 treatment hahaha

They get you up quick these days- I was shocked when I woke up from a hip replacement and they told me to get up and start walking on crutches. It's better to keep blood flowing, muscles working, when possible, I believe.

Dang, was really rooting for him. he had really solid foundation built to have a breakout year for sure. He'll be on his feet by summer but not racing nationals means we wont see him till Monster cup.

when i broke my femur in '11. I broke on Labor day (sept) and was walking without crutches by late november was still tender for about a year, at least for me. . They said due to the rod i could put weight on it right away but even with pain meds it was still quite sore

Ya not sure with how this chain rumor started as it was easy to see it wasn't the chain.

90% sure his bike went into neutral by either his tip toe just grazed the shifter or the sheer force of a wild Mookie punishing whoops popped it out of gear itself. Not sure where I read this but some people say it's a little common for Hondas?

Either or I cant wait to see Malcolm's return

Midway through the whoops his front wheel appears to miss a whoop, from there his bike starts to go out of control. Someone like Malcolm is likely hitting the whoops around 4th gear. I don't see how he would have clicked down 2-3 times to hit neutral. The bike itself isn't going to randomly hit neutral. If the transmission failed it would have likely locked up the rear end. Chain snap could possible cause this type of thing but I don't see a chain flying.

Either way, I agree, can't wait to see Malcolm come back. Reminds me of James, always exciting to watch.
