And if you think they're not a good workout you're not thinking it through. If you ride by yourself, or with other e-bikers, your speed increases, but if you're doing your max, you're doing your max. And going downhill they can be more work as the weight is higher.
Ride with normies, well yeah, you're not working as hard but you'd also be trying to not laugh while they yell at you so you know. Whatever.
You get more trails in the same time, and do it as fast as you can on a heavier bike.

For younger able body riders...oh dear. God gave you legs, use them!
If you don't want to work hard or feel the leg burn then why pick mtb'ing?
And again, if you're putting in your max effort, then aren't you putting in your max effort? You're just going faster.
I work a blue-collar job and am on my feet all day. An e-bike could allow me to do that kind of work and still get a lot of MTB riding in.
Call me a weenie if you like, but one day I went to the moto track after push mowing grass all day. My legs cramped up and I was barely able to fend off a 15 year old on a 125.
I'm not sure if I would go Levo or Kenevo. I'd likely go for the base model. I have a Kona Process for any trails that do not allow e-bikes.
Anything that allows people to get exercise and enjoy nature should be a good thing for the economy and reduce health care expenses.
Is it worth saving up the extra $2,000?

Pit Row
Noobs that have a bike that can get them up a hill they aren't skilled enough to go down, that don't have trail etiquette, that hasten the closure of the trails I ride on that are at risk already.
Several of the trails near me are banned for emtb use anyways after they were deemed more motorcycle than bicycle.
That doesn't mean I don't want one, just not a fan of having new mountain bike riders that are less serious about learning about shared use rules necessary to keep trails open.
Genie is out of the bottle - so expect more ebikes not less.
I hate quads and side-by-sides in my riding areas, but I'm not stupid enough to try to get them banned (I just go higher up and more remote to single track that they can't get to).
E-bikes are awesome, and like I've said in other threads, the loudest complainers are (likely) the guys that simply can't afford them. Funny how that works...
The coolest thing about the e-bike is that a guy like me with a desk job and too much time traveling for work can modulate the E-bike's power to keep up with them (while at my limit). They're the great equalizer, allowing people with differing levels of fitness to still ride together and have a blast.
Oh, and we rarely see other riders, since we're at higher elevation where very few people will ever ride. We occasionally see some uber-gnarly mountain bikers, but it's not often...
2018 Specialized Levo. Funnest mountain bike I've ever owned, and I can ride farther and longer without bonking my HR off the rev limiter all the time.
All the shit talkers hate the very existence of these bikes, until they ride one...
Mine is completely silent.
A levo sounds about the right bike for an ebike. Don’t go for huge fat tires though that dulls the riding and flexes too much. A 2.6 casing sounds about right.
One drawback is if you ride with friends that don’t have an ebike then you are just waiting around too much when you could be exploring so much more
