Anyone own a Yamaha e-bike?
I have a Giant TRANCE X E+ PRO 29 3 and that has the Yamaha motor in it.
It has opened up a lot of areas to me now. Living in South West England we have some step hills.
Go trail riding with family and dog.

Santa Cruz trails are as good as they get right now. Riding these ebikes way more than moto here in california - the good moto riding days are getting harder to find here. Thank god for these ebikes and the killer trails we have.

I ride my eeeeb more than my moto these days, easy to load up and just go riding. The uphills are more fun than the downs on some trails. Still hit 30ft doubles on it no problem. Best bang for your buck ebikes are the Trek Rail, YT decoy and the new Giant Reign.

Since we are all sharing pics of our rides here’s my pile. Got to ride last week out in Utah with the Intense crew and some dude named Aaron Gwin.

This is nuts. Clearly the guy is a freak of nature. This video shows a side of an EMTB that I never knew was possible.

I have a Santa Cruz Bullit. It's pretty much the only Mtb I've ridden since I got it last winter. Absolutely awesome is all I can say. Top 3 most fun bikes of any kind I've ever had. Get you a big battery, big travel e-bike, with a nice fork and a coil shock and you'll never look back.

Has anyone had any success hot rodding the Shimano motors? I have tried the crank activated sensor but it throws E014 1/2 hr - 45 mins into a ride. Any intel would be appreciated.

Nonsense...completely fabricated by someone who obviously hasn't ridden one.

Nice try, though...

It wouldn't even surprise me. They ride differently, period. It's like me with 4-strokes; they are technically "better" MX bikes, but I absolutely hate riding them and I'll never own one again.

As for e-bicycles, I like 'em.

How do you like that thing? I gave it some serious thought before picking up my Husky. Couldn’t find one within a reasonable distance in Central TX.

I like it a lot. The motor is very smooth. I wasn't able to find a Moro Pro, so the suspension it came with wasn't great. I spent some money upgrading that and put better tires on it. Also through some Pro Tapers on it to complete the moto look haha.

Yeah, I'm sure they aren't for everyone, I'm not planning on one unless an injury, condition forces it. If I lived out west where the climbs are huge it would be a game changer, then for sure.

I have the Yamaha ebike and love it! 5k suspension is great for trails ok for park stuff! I actually remove battery when I go to a lift assisted park.
My average rides are about an hour after I get off work during week, weekend if I’m not racing maybe 2 hours. Only upgrades I did were switched to rev grips and better tires once stock ones got a little worn.

I’m on a ‘20 Turbo Levo comp. It’s pretty much an entry level bike but they’re made so well now I don’t really notice it’s short comings. Only things I’ve done is extended the fork (Lyric) to 160mm, raise the rear of the bike, and added a solid set of DD Maxis tires. Raising the bike has brought the bottom bracket up enough so I don’t clip rocks while pedaling anymore, which was my only gripe. The tire pressure I went up to 30 psi and I don’t get the sidewall roll that I personally hated, but other than that these bikes rip. As far as bike parks are concerned, there’s no real issue that I’ve noticed but I’m just another kook who can’t ride.

I love reading these posts about ex moto guys and their 60 yr old dads getting into the woods again on ebikes that’s totally mine and my dads story. We just picked up 21’ Specialized turbo levo comps. I’m 37 and all broken up from years of racing but these things have made it possible to ride and climb things I couldn’t do in my prime same for my dad also cool to get time with him again.

Another old guy in his 60s here that has opened up a new phase of two wheeled fun. Hardly ever ride my dirt bike now as the prep and travel time compared to emtbing makes it an easy choice. Still ride my old mtbs but the new KTM ebike enables me to ride with fitter riders without having to push so hard at my age.

Make sure you’re all running Cushcore guys. Ebikes are heavy and a lot of them come with soft rims

This pic got me thinking about the "unwritten rules" of MTB. I got my first MTB last year, Specialized Turbo Levo, and as a total noob in the sport I'm still trying to figure this stuff out.

As dumb as these "rule" are, i'll admit to falling into the trap with moto and surfing - two of my fave things. Like the visor all the way down on your helmet or carrying your board wax side in.

...So is full lycra style road cycling kits like the Baker crew above a thing for e-MTB's? I thought that's just an XC deal. Seems to me most e-MTBs fall into the "enduro" category which is usually baggy shorts and tops.

I'm on a 2020 YT Decoy Comp (Mullet 29/27.5) after riding acoustic bikes for years. I'm 38 and have 2 young kids and a wife that want / need me home as much as possible. This bike helps me get out and cover more terrain & gives me more of a work out with the pedal assist than I was able to get out of my acoustic bikes in a 2 hour window and keep my wife happy I'm not gone all day.

It descends extremely well, like better than my daily, and comparable to my full DH Specialized Demo 8. Confidence inspiring bike w/ 170mm F & 160mm R travel.

One thing I've had issues with is TIRES!

I've legitimately gone thru 6 rear tires in 2 months due to them puncturing. First two I wasn't running a foam / cushcore style insert. Even after I installed that, I blew out 2 brand new Vittoria Mota 27.5's on the first ride after installing my Tannus armor insert, absolutely RIDICULOUS. I was trying to stay away from Maxxis, and wound up back on them because they're pretty rugged and can take the abuse ( so far I've got 8 rides on this Dissector). I run 2.6 F&R, I believe I run roughly 27-28 psi when I've checked with a working pump.
