Don't let MTB'ers forget who made most of the trails that they love so much, dirtbikers!

I ride both by the way and had my hands on 2 Zero's about 10 years ago while living in SLC. Those bikes were junk and still are, but we took them up the trails around downtown SLC and through campus, etc. Nobody even knew we were there and it was a blast!

One aspect of the sound is that the riding genius in all of us spectators can analyze how well the guys on the track are utilizing the bike's power. It gives us some more ammo in our endless arguments over who is, or isn't the best rider.

E-Dirtbikes DO NOT belong on mountain bike trails. PERIOD.

Those are the raddest mnt bikers I've ever seen...Almost every mnt bike I know hates motorized machines on their trails...because they tear the trails up. And the Alta would be no different...

But, I hate to say, even for those Mnt bikers....its all fun and games when there is 1 e-bike EVER on their trail...but what about when they are seeing multiple bikes every time they are out? And the trails start changing (ruts, big breaking/acceleration bumps, whoops), or some dude hauling the mail up hill takes one of them out.

All the sudden, mnt bikers don't want e-bikes on their trails any more than they want ICE bikes...

Claiming that e-bikes will open new riding areas on mountain bike trails is a short term deal.

I agree with all of you about it. For what it's worth i was literally not going any faster than a MTB'er would go on these trails. I'm not claiming it is a good idea to ride a motocross bike on mountain bike trails. I'm just making a point that its possible without disturbing NIMBY's. It would be very difficult on a gas bike to do without disturbing NIMBY's. And, dust issues aside, it's that fact that potentially enables riding areas closer to residential areas. Its mostly the annoying sounds that NIMBY's care about.

There are designated motorized and non-motorized trails. E-bikes, E-dirtbikes, or anything motorized should not be sharing a MTB trail (and in most cases MTB trails are shared with Hiking trails). It's a quick way to get somebody killed, and also ruin it for everyone after the lawsuit that will follow.

the debate on whether they are good for the sport or not will die when we do. A bunch of kids that have grown up watching e-bikes won't miss the sound cause they won't know about it except for those old vintage videos of those crazy old guys on those smoking/loud old 2t and 4t.

We ALL love the 2t sound and feel that without some noise, the racing is lame. I agree. But if you don't know what you're missing, an e-bike will work just fine for ya.

Wow what do you know, people who don’t hate on everything they see. Wish there were more people like that around. . .

There is blind hating (big in this place) and there are some things that are not a good idea. An alta on mtb trails is most definitely not a good idea. Those looked like all newb riders drooling over the cool Alta. The reception would not be the same at trails a lot of us ride. Either way, Bryan already explained it and he wasn't full on moto-ing around.

Thats most likely true and Along those lines,
We wont have Cars in the future either, at least not self driven ones , which really makes me wonder about the Future of Racing , Cars or motorcycles.
The guy doing the talking in this documentary seems pretty smart so i dont doubt he is correct or could be ,but I dont like that future much I like Cars and Trucks and motorcycles and motorsports.

I might as well have watched it on mute with 3 screaming kids under 5 running around. I still enjoyed it. But yeah no for sure I get your point that I seen in practice.

Lots of rumors still no real word.

Here's 2 new ones that stood out from Alta Owners Forum:

1. Great News was spread on the Monday before Black Wednesday. Rumored to be BRP.
2. The company has already been sold to a large Powersports company and news is to be released within the week.

Here's something interesting too: https://www.rideapart.com/articles/273429/evoke-batteries-charge-15-min…

You snowflake pansy's, it's called personal responsibility. Sure if you kill someone you have some serious problems, but that's the same anywhere. Be aware of your surroundings and ride within the limits of the trail, and the traffic on the trail. Would you go balls out bombing down a trail on your mtb knowing there are hikers all over it? I know that I don't ride mine that way and I am not saying ride every mtb trail possible.

Maybe where you guys live it isn't possible, but I ride in Colorado/Utah/Wyoming where you definitely can.

My point is that they can coexist and in fact a great percentage of trails were made by motorcycles.

Hey mtb'er get off of my hiking trail!

Hey mtb'er this is an equestrian trail, you can't ride here.

Get my drift?

Yes; mountain bikers are on trails that horse riders used and horse riders hate them for that. Now e-mountain bikers are on the trails so the mountain bikers and the horse riders hate them. So add e-dirtbikes and they'll be hated by the e-mtn bikers, mtn bikers and horse riders. Has anyone asked the deer; they put down the trails in the first place so I'm sure they're not happy;Damn humans anyway!

Trail rules should be made and respected on a case by case basis.

I got a call two days ago from someone representing one of their potential buyers. Asked opinion on the product, quality, what I saw while I was there last, etc...the potential buyer is someone not mentioned in this thread and they made it seem like no one has stepped up to complete the purchase as of yet.

I saw one in the flesh for the first time today, and thought it looked great, build quality was spot on, finish looked good too. Hope someone keeps it going.

Marcus Lemonis should buy them. He would make them successful.

Seriously, I don't know how this happens. If you have a business you need to know your financials to sell a product.

The hard question to answer is obviously what percentage of the market would buy an Alta. Price point didn't help, but I was looking to get one in a few years. I would be looking to get a used one because I just don't want to drop as much for a new one as what Alta wants, at least not yet. I'm sure there is some resistance to electric, mostly from the big 5, but with the society we are in today and it is only going to get more "green friendly" electric is the way to go.

The big 5 need to embrace it, not try to shut it down. Otherwise they may not like the results if they don't go with the change as environmental regulations get tougher and tougher.

If someone buys Alta out and continue to produce these I will buy at least one Alta in the next couple years, it eliminates my problem of having nowhere to ride because of sound.

Media Blackout at the moment Laughing

Remember that they did not file for BK protection, but took extreme measures to preserve liquidity. They are in a bad negotiating position, but I'd suspect there are several suitors and there may end up being a bidding war.

Why is it bad someone from a potential buyer is reaching out and doing research?

Let me repeat- "potential buyer"..This is great news...These things take time..

We were led to believe there was either a deal in the works or it was already done but the announcement hasn't been made. Michael's post makes it seem like that was not true.
