I am.of fan of both, so the debate is bench racing thats it. Cant ever compare the 2, because they never will race a series.

I pray that Kroc or TC catch fire and roast both their asses haha

So sick of this back and forth about these two. Race will be epic one way or the other, unless Herlings comes in like a Necromonger and just takes over and makes the whole thing look silly Silly Blink

The whole world vs the United States should be what the race is called.

I completely agree. That's basically all it is now.

May the best team win.

Why? A race that don't fit your agenda doesn't count?

It seems as if the only "twist" is in your panties!

It is very possible to be a fan of multiple riders. Bottom line is, you cannot compare the "one-off" races that really don't mean shit to one of the riders. I really don't think the Des Nations is a true test of superiority of any certain rider. Hell, Paulin has won how many Des Nations yet doesn't have a World Title? Is he the best rider in the world?? No. The true test would be in a series and unfortunately for the fans, we will never see ET and the Bullet go at it in a series.

I'm an American and I love Tomac as a person and as a rider. But if I'm betting on it I have to go with Herlings. He doesn't make as many mistakes as Tomac. He is consistent with his starts. He passes through the pack quickly(Tomac gets stuck at times). And he has less pressure on him.

Like when Webb beat Herlings at Charlotte, coming from 17th, passed and then left him? Ahh, but that was just points racing, right?

Seriously, the team told Tomac after that first moto, that points and the Championship is all that matters...

And what agenda? Go find my posts... I say they are so close that its 50/50... More sand Herlings wins more often, more hardpack and Tomac wins more often. Just my opinion... I even said while pretty equal on speed, Herlings is definitely more consistent.

But I can see you have your panties in a wad for your guy...

Herlings doesn’t feel pressure right now as he seems to have Carmichael’s confidence when he knew he was the fastest anywhere he went and actually wanted to race any opponent at home or abroad!! Hopefully Eli will want to try and give him a piece of humble pie if possible? The guy is in a damn roll right now!!

People like to bring up Tomac's results from past MXdN's but never seem to want to tell the story for whatever reason? 2013 I remember him catching Roczen from outside the top ten while being 10+ seconds back, before getting ejected off his bike over that jump. The next moto he hounded Roczen the entire moto and finished second.

2014 I believe he crashed in the first turn and had to come through the pack, it wasn't a great moto for him but in the second one he rode with a set of forks he hadn't rode with all weekend and was the fastest guy on track that moto but as per usual with Tomac he didn't start very well.

I'm not sure why some people act like he just went to those races and was off the pace? Both times he's raced the event he's shown incredible speed and is obviously way more experienced and mature now than he was four/five years ago.

I looked it up about a month ago and Eli had the fastest lap time in every MXdN Moto he has been in including the ones he road a 250.

In Latvia he was the fastest
In Germany him and Kenny were the fastest

In the end the results count though

No, Webb beat Herlings fair and square in Charlotte.

A race is a race, doesn't matter who tells who what. Racers race.

And he's 1-3 with Herlings in the field (1-4 if you include the USGP qualifier).

I've got news for you... When the big money teams and championships are involved, it's not as simple as you think it is.

You're absolutely right the results are the only thing that matter but they don't always tell the story. It's no different than Anderson beating Herlings at Maggoria in 2016. The results don't tell you that Herlings fell trying to set Anderson up for a pass.

I would have to say the pressure on both will be absolutely immense, especially if the Dutch team is in the running for a podium/win. Tomac will have that pressure by both being the home nation guy and ending the losing streak. Both guys are competitors with Legend level skills and neither will want to be shown up by the other.

All other stuff about who's faster etc. is simply the opinion of fans who want to believe their guy is the fastest. The truth will come out in a few weeks.

They may both have legend level skills but there is one thing that I think Herlings has over Tomac (and everyone else) which is his uncompromising determination to succeed. He is so focussed on winning it's frightening.

All the legend level guys want to win. One question for this matchup is which is more important, the team result or the individual result? I know how DeCoster thinks.

Yes, but it sounds like DeCoster backed out of "possible" team first thinking when he allowed Eli to ride the MXGP class. Originally they were thinking about Eli for Open because his fitness would be an advantage for riding back to back motos. From what was reported, they didn't want the heat of the press saying that he was trying to avoid Jeffrey. That is enough to show that the team win is most important, but it's not all that's important.

The USA winning or not, will come down to Barcia's finishes. If some of the other countries put their top rider in Barcia's class avoid ET/JH, and say he goes like 3-5 in his class, Tomac will HAVE to go for the win and that battle between him and Herlings will be EPIC.

Red Bud isnt Lommell, ya jackasses.

Tomac 1-1
Barcia wins open class
Plessinger wins MX2.

If there is one rider at the moment who is unpredictable,it is Ken Roczen.
