Yupp im pretty sure this is bitter sweet for cairoli because he lost BUT from what it seems herlings imo will indoubtedly be king 12 years from now. and if he could fully commit to SX then i see nothing stopping herlings from being the next G.O.A.T.
He seems to have desire and the ability to learn from his mistakes which is what makes a G.O.A.T, So for Cairoli to lose to someone who will potentially be the best, seems like the most honorable step down from the throne.
Wrong

Making no mistakes is what makes a goat.

I went into the season rooting for the old man but Herlings could not be denied this year. Hard to see him being dethroned any time soon and I fully expect him to win his motos at the Des Nations. He's the fastest man on the planet and looks to just be hitting his stride. Next few years could be scary to watch.

Herlings had unreal speed in MX2, but I think losing those two titles by injury really helped him in the MXGP class. I'd imagine he learned a lot from those mistakes, and if he keeps this up he's going to be very tough to beat for many years to come. He's only 24 years old, he has a good 8-9 years (or more) of dominating the class. Do you guys see anyone beating him in Europe anytime soon?

Just like for cairoli someone Will soon pop up who is faster than herlings too. Cairoli is getting old, its unbelieveable that he can even run with herlings now. Imagine if prado stays and moves up, in 4 years he is 21 and herlings Will be close to 30. And dont forget that gajser had a huge injury before this season and have'nt been even close to 100% all season and it was the same after a couple of races last year and dont forget that he started last season with wins and looked to defend the title.

If tiga is fit next year and finds the drive to win he Will battle a lot with herlings, i have no doubt that a fit gajser who wants to win like in 2016 could run the same pace as herlings on every track except the deep sand ones. And im really hoping he starts next season healthy so we could see some more cool battles because this year was way to predictable and boring.
IMO can’t see anyone catching him for the next few seasons, he has got the winning rhythm he had in 250’s and the confidence is back, this along with the maturity (the big difference this year) will make him unbeatable in GP’s. Think we will have to wait for Prado to move up.

Big JH fan but was hoping AC would have pushed him more this year

The 2-1 1-1 a few weeks later kinda killed any of the doubts remaining though haha

He wont be racing for another 8-9 years, 5 years max and he will call it quits he has already said in a interview he doesn't want to race as long as Tony has.

Probably would've been 33 1st's if he hadn't of missed the Italian round.

I can see why anyone would Think like you do because herlings fitness level and speed is insane but all im saying is we dont know how fast prado and jonass Will be on 450is , both of them are around as fast as herlings was on a 250 even though jonass have had a really inconsistant season and one never knows some unknown 20yr old who is fast enough could be discovered the next couple of years or something. I still Think a 100% fit gajser if he rode like in 16 could challenge herlings for the title, ppl seems to forget that he won 3 gps in a row last year before injuring himself and missing races and that he had a roczen level injury before this season and have'nt been riding close to even 90% this year. Even cairoli is a skilled and smart enough rider to beat anyone, he is just way of fitness wise compared to herlings but that is understandable when tc turns 33 next year. If he would find a way to get his fitness level up next year who knows!?.

Prado and Jonass are not as fast as Herlings was on a 250. Dont kid yourself. If they we're they'd at least be going 1-1-1-1-1 or splitting wins. Lots of talent has been pushed from MX2 due to the age rule. Its a good step up class, as is the EMX250 for MX2.

This is about Herlings, the guy that won more than 30 heats and 15 GP's this year. He was by far the best and deserved this title more than anyone. Congrats Jeffrey!

I mean, it must be one of the dumbest posts I have read lately. Are we gonna have the opposite discussion from what we had while Herlings was still in the 250s and he should have moved up allready to prove that he was the fastest? Maybe he should move back down to prove Rs555 wrongWhistling

Going 1-1 on championship day! What a legend, great job JH. I don’t see anyone touching him over the next 5 years. Hopefully Tomac does a farewell tour in the GP’s.. lol

Or it proves he made the right choice making sure he was physically ready for mx1....guess it depends if you’re a fan or not.

Dominated the season, hats off also to cairolli who dominated the entire field bar 1, which is impressive at his stage of career.
I think there will be a few boring seasons ahead, sadly.

I Think most of you ppl dissregarding prado and jonass should start watching the gp's a bit more. I've said it numerous Times that both herlings and tomac are probably the 2 fastest dudes in years and years but neither jonass or prado hav peaked yet and guys like seewer and paturel who was up there sometimes with jh in the 250s have only been in the 450is one season and Will probably be much faster next year. And Prado almost frigging beat herlings in assen as a 15 year old boy on herlings home turf and a deep sand track and jonass can go as fast as prado when he is on. Im not saying they Will beat him right now but dont forget that we have'nt seen neither of the dudes aging out next year on 450is get and they could suprise us and prado is not even close to have peaked yet and i Think he could destroy herlings Dreams of beating tony's titles in a couple of years when he moves up and when he does more young dudes who are fast now Will have moved up too. The mxgp class is getting more and more stacked each year and it Will probably continue to be that way for a couple of years if not loungo destroys it and i wouldnt be surprised if we see som fast americans in the gp's in a couple of years either.

Prado is on par I would say. 15 Moto wins this year and unlike Roczen and Herlings who both won titles in their third year the defending champ was still in the class. Herlings didn't go 1-1 on a non sand track till his third year in the pros and both Musquin and Roczen were gone when he finally did. The MX2 class has been pushing talent up now and when Herlings was racing. Not bashing on Herlings or Roczen but they were not dominant till year 3 just like Prado. Prado doesn't have the raw speed Roczen had but he makes less mistakes as well and he dosent have the sand advantage Herlings did but he is a better starter then he was at this point in their careers. Prado is the one that makes you nervous, the one guy that makes you go oh shit. Next year is there any doubt in anyone's mind that Prado wins at least 80% percent of the races? And if you say it's cause the talent gets moved out remember in Herlings second year Musquin was gone in his third year Roczen was gone and when he really started to crush everyone Serale was gone. Don't take this is a diss to Herlings but more like a rebuttal to you not thinking Prado is a 100% superstar already just like Roczen and Herlings before him.

I am a big tomac fan but the difference is that herlings is fast on both narrow tech tracks that shouldnt allow you to go that fast and american style "highway tracks" alike no matter if its sand, mud, hardpacked or whatever and he doesent have the off days with mental hickups that we all know tomac has from time to time were he can destroy Everyone the whole day in practice and quali and then make a small misstake and freeze up and finish outside top 5. I have no doubt that tomac is one of the few riders in the world who could beat jh straight up, but the fact is that as long as tomac keeps having his off days and mental hickups herlings Will continue to be the more complete and better rider. Im really really hoping tomac does a villipoto and go over to the gp's if he wins a couple of sx championships as well so we could have them together in the same series.

I don't see them together, ever... Unless for some reason Herlings decides after a few years he wants to run AMA. It could happen, but doesn't seem likely. Tomac has the speed, but not the consistency that Herlings has right now. This season showed what a standout talent Herlings really is. I don't see anyone getting close next year... It will be JH84 again.

But, good thing we have MXoN to drive us AMA vx MXGP fans crazy!
