Great to hear Chris. He and Stacy haven't had it easy in the past few years, but they continue to smile. Always.

Well, a question for the kids at home in New England/Connecticut.

Doug started racing NEMA in the 80's on a Libby's YZ80, and didn't just kill the competition from the start. (I think he crashed hard and broke his arm during his first year, if memory serves correctly) He never gave up and it landed him at the top of the MX world. Most of us never saw ourselves passing the top guy at the time. He was just ridiculously fast. Won't give the name, but he was #57.

In the first years at NEMA on the 80's, who was the top guy to beat? And did you ever see yourself beating him?

Speaking of which Chris, you got some good pics last weekend at RH (hint,hint). One of a pro playing on a 2-stroke and IMO, the next big thing coming out of CT. I'll let you intro the pics

Actually I wasn't there, but I did see your pics on the RH site and thought the AJ Catanzero #30 whip photo was a good one. Damn that place was rutted. Lorusso just wheelies through it with that old 125 like it's nothing. I didn't even know RH was open, Ive got to get there.

Doug is the man! Him and RC will always be my favorite racers.

I would ask him if he ever thought of becoming a motivational speaker. I think his life story transcends MX and even if people never heard of him before, if he gave a presentation and speech I think he could be an inspiration to everyone.

Has anyone approached you about a movie deal about your life? If so, what has transpired? If not, would you consider writing an autobiography and pitching the story to Hollywood?

I'm assuming he'd be too humble to do so, but dang it...I want to read it or watch it on the big screen!

Tell him I'll buy him and the wife dinner out if he'll autograph my Fox "scar" poster. I'm serious!! Get me a mailing address please. Going to be hanging it in my home gym, can't think of anything much more motivating than that. He always had to bust his ass (no pun intended) for everything he achieved. I remember he and Stacy were living in a van while trying to make a go at his racing career. And it was a regular old van, not a Showhauler with a stacker trailer and eight bikes. He earned his respect, and his Championships and for that I salute you o' badass motocrosser of the not so distant past! Hope all is well with the Henry's.

AJ is on the right path. Perfect attitude, team managers dream! He's one of the kids I sponsor and support.
Lorusso loves that 125! With the A kit he has on it that must be fun to throw around!
Rocky was only open for Saturday and now the CT river is to high. It might go down but has to go back up once all the mountains thaw in VT.

Why are you so awesome.

He is by far my favourite rider of all time. I honestly wouldn't know what to ask.... maybe.... At any point in time did you even consider quitting racing (following those horrific injuries)?

sonny- Number 57 in NEMA around this time was a guy named Dave Antonucci, and your correct, he was really fast. He was from connecticut and rode for Team Green. He was killed on a street bike around 88-89. Some of the other fast riders in NEMA during this time were Gene Neumac, Greg Anderson and Jon Pierre Levesque.

I remember when he was set to dethrone MC on team Honda and was unceremoniously dumped by Honda after his Budds creek accident. I have hated Honda ever since. I wonder if he was bitter about that.

YOU ARE 100% CORRECT. Dave Antonucci was the man. but It was Jan. of 92' when David's car hit an ambulance, killing him. I can't help but think that he would have gone so far in this sport. Great person to have known. I watched an old super8 film of an old NEMA race and thought "Damn, Dave rode just like Windham" just that smooth

I read on a forum recently that someone gave props to DA57.

...Legendary battles with Chris Fisher also and Gene Neumac took it pro if I remember correctly.

What job offer would bring Doug back into the industry full-time? His personality and accomplishments still resonate with the MX community today, especially those who control the discretionary income (i.e. parents). I'd like to know what offers he has considered, and if he will be more visible in the future.

Doug gave this industry and its fans more than we could ever return. Every rider has his supporters and detractors, but I have never heard or read a single derogatory or negative comment about Doug Henry. His never-say-die approach to racing, coupled with a positive mental attitude and gregarious personality made for the perfect factory employee. Yamaha's outstanding tributes to Doug and Stacey are yet to be surpassed, and I still get goosebumps every time I look at the "Thanks" poster. For those who knew Doug, it perfectly summarized the man and his acheivements.
