Look at it this way : if JS and his partners are remotely serious about the Seven brand, AP could have a good earner if he takes #7 and signs with Seven.

JS is not racing - #7 is there for the taking.

So if AP moves up to the 450 class for Factory Yamaha like it sounds like he will, where does that leave Dean Wilson? I heard he was most likely to get that spot a few weeks ago. I guess KTM, Husky or JGR could run 3 bikes, but is it likely? And which one would he go to?

Matthes has said that Rockstar Husky is keeping Dean for 2019, with three 450s on the track. It would be really awesome if other manufacturers followed suit. Given the injury rates in this sport it would mean that most factory teams would end up with two riders most of the time.

Kind of hard to say though remember that year Hill did really good at monster Cup on a 450 but he race the two fifties

Yep. I want 8 and 9 on the track more than 7 or its most recent owner...

I have big issues with the numbering system and who gets what...All top 20 numbers belong in the 450 class that’s all I will say

I miss the old system of earning your number every year based on points. I don't think the "permanent" number system has added anything to the sport.

It was very cool to see the new numbers every year.

I get where you are coming from, but for the top guys it's easier to market themselves with the same number year after year. I also think it makes it easier for fans trying to get into the sport. Say they come in at the end of the nationals and see marvin as 25, then get excited about sx and look for the #25 ktm only to find it's now on a yamaha with someone else.

Obviously it's much easier for us that are way into it, but the new fans won't get it. Let the top guys have permanent numbers.

Am I the only one that doesn't get this?? WGAF... I rarely (actually never)think of who is running the historic numbers currently. RC will always be number 4, RV number 2, etc. Maybe if one of the current guys created a winning legacy, then the old rider may fade away and the new guy associated with it.

That's why I personally think he should take the number 8. To a lot of people the 4 is RC, the 2 is MC or RV depending on when someone got involved with the sport and the same thing applies with the number 5. It's either LaRocco or Dungey.

The 8 has been worn by great riders sure but has anyone of them really made it "their own"/Historic like you mentioned? Not really. When I think of the number 8 I think of Langston simply because he was the last guy to run it.

Plessinger is a likeable guy, his fanbase will continue to grow and he still has a long career ahead of him so he really should try and make something out of the number 8. Be different.

To many people including a lot a guys on here the 7 will always be James.

In the end it's his choice.

Fun Fact: The number 8 has won 7 titles since 1990. Plessinger could have the chance to grab title number 8 for the number 8.

Yeah, I can see that too.it would give him his own identity as opposed to be the guy that took 7. (For many anyway)
