Musquin has never been in the same league as Tomac. Just because he went for a kamikaze t-bone at Foxborough (after Tomac ran him down and passed him) doesn’t mean Musquin is even on his level. No contest, yet some people still claim Musquin is fast. If Kenny and Anderson were healthy, he’d be top 4 at best. He’s gonna be bummed when AC, Martin, and Osborne move up, then he’ll be lucky to get top 5s.

But........he'll still have his 2 World Championships MXDN title Monster energy cup $1,000,000.00 payout (that's 333k a moto not to shabby for one nights work) and the beautiful Matilde to console him.By the way just an FYI she's french too and it is a well known fact the ladies of France do not wear underpants.Vive le difference!

He’s definitely faster, just not as consistent and has suffered a few mechanical issues. Feels like pretty much the past 10 years has been less about being the fastest and more about just being a steady threat in the top 3.

Glad he’s out there though. Definitely makes it interesting. I was biting my nails the entire 2nd Moto.
Except for villopoto he went for it and was the fastest.

If you can have a choice between being the fastest rider or a slower rider who is arguably more consistent, what would you choose? I think 99.9% will take their chance and be the FASTER guy. If you win a race but you win because the guy who blew your doors off crashed, you dont feel that great about it.

That was my point in another thread but the fanboys think speed and being flashy is more important than wins and titles.

Seeing as Tomac went 1-1 at Washougal and blew the doors off Marvin, maybe Marvin should have asked Tomac to slow it down a bit instead of push it so hard

I was wondering if this thread would get bumped towards the top again after Washougal. I like Marv well enough and I get that it is hard to admit defeat, but l’ll be damned if this thread title isn’t super accurate. MM knows that Tomac is straight whooping his ass, and it seems to really be eating him up that he has nothing for him. He seemed so dejected during the podium interviews. These second/third places are taking a toll on the dude.

I've noticed in several of the interviews he doesnt even mention Tomac. He will bring up Roczen though.

Marv is very lucky to have 2 outdoor wins this year.. Tomac could of still been rolling a perfect overall scorecard if not for his mistake at southwick and DNF at Red Bud..
I think Marv might have something for him at Unadilla.. should be a good race!

Unfortunately that is what they said about Washougal; that this was a MM track.

Osborne maybe, but with AC and Martin you are very hopeful.

Also, Musquin is not the fastest, but out of the 3 that are beating him or that can beat him:
- Roczen is just back from nearly 2 career ending injuries.
- Anderson is injured.
- Tomac's team think he is a crash test dummy and let him go 100% while trying to keep his pants on while leading the championship with litterally nobody able to compete against him.

So he is not exactly at their exceptional level, but close, while he competed probably 30% more races than his competition. Doing the max to keep it on 2 wheels is also how you win championships sometimes.

Yup; sometimes. And sometimes a guy with Hannah style shows up and sometimes the rules change.
7/30/2018 6:42am
Was anyone else getting really excited about the idea of watching Tomac ride like this in September?

Competed 30% more races? Have you forgot his first 3-4 years here in America? Dude was hurt the whole time pretty much.

So does it make it worse that one guy has bionic arms and is beating him and another has his pants falling off catch him, fall, catch and drop him like bad habit? Marvin is fast no doubt, but there are a few other guys that are next level right now.

i can’t be the only one that’s sick of watching Tomac act the way he does in the press conference. it’s consistently a cringe watch every weekend. he acts like he’s too good for every question and he has no personality. i can’t put into words what it is he’s doing but it’s suuuuper annoying how he can’t elaborate on anything. he’s god speed on a bike but that smug act he puts on and his demeanor keeps me from being a fan

Well it's a matter of personal taste...
To me, Tomac and Roczen are coooool, while Musquin is an annoying whiner (who tried his best).

I think the press conferences are pretty lame all the way around. The questions and especially the answers. Do you really think riders are going to tell the truth about what they are thinking on the track to beat the competition? At best, the PC it's an opportunity to throw the competition off base, sidestep the quesion and talk in generalities.

ET: Pleasssse bike don't break and I'm riding so hard I hope I don't crash but I feel like I will at any moment...damn there go my stupid pants again...

KR: Damn, I just can barely hang on and ride hard after 25 minutes...ha ha look at ET pants falling down!

MM: I'm so scared when I try to match ET speed I just hope he crashes and something...Matilda I need a hug!

JB: SOB's; I can't catch any of them of this ************bike...

Sheesh man, I think what you're seeing in pretty authentic. Not everyone is suuuuuper comfortable in front of cameras and being interviewed. He obviously has to do it, as it comes with the territory, but I don't think he enjoys it. I think he actually comes across as pretty humble.

ditto

it'd be fun to have a Hannah up there these days, but the nearest thing to that I can think of right now is Webb's "bullcrap", but that isn't ET and that is fine with me.

I actually enjoyu him not inanely ripping off the list of sponsors "Thanks to my Dunlop tires for keeping me safe..." etc
