I really hope he is recovering 100% from this one, but man it looks like they swapped out his whole spin in the day and age of microscopic procedures.

Such a bummer for him, his family, FCR, Honda, Geico and those that wanted to see him grab a championship on the CRF and move up. Seems the only luck those guys are getting is bad luck

I wonder if he has a PICC line in. If so, that's not the best thing to see at this point.

It depends on what they did internally. I have a gnarly scar from my throat to my belly button from open heart surgery (repaired my aortic valve and replaced my aorta) and I was back to riding within three months.

I recently had a “similar” injury. Compressed T12, L1-L5, they fused my spine, I’m just worried of the outcome if I were to have another back injury. Scary stuff forsure

I burst fractured my L1 on january 14th of this year, and had a t12 to l2 fusion. Sporing some factory TI screws and rods back there as well. Wish nothing but the best for Jmart but this is really no joke. I hope the nerve damage is little none because that is what is really holding me back at this point.

If his surgery was like mine, he has a big one under his rib cage, too.

No problem for J-Mart. He must be bored, though.
Typically, you are not allowed to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for about 3 months- while the muscles regenerate.

Ouch!! He still looks bruised up from the wreck. At least he's not here asking a bunch of dufus Vitards how long we think until he can ride again.

My dad has one like that on his back and on another on his stomach that goes from his abdomen and around his belly button down towards his belt area from his back surgeries, pretty nasty looking. Hey Jmart, chicks dig scars!

Does this mean he’s in for the weekend? Wink

Knowing how J-Mart is one of the fittest racers out there...this pic makes me think his heart must be stronger than fuck, because his back muscles look very average.

I'm drawing a blank on the famous motocross ad featuring a gnarly spinal surgery scar (or was it abdominal)? Damon Huffman? Travis Preston? Larry Ward? I'm drawing a blank... it was gnarly. Who was it?

Remembered... Doug Henry

Yeah lets judge his back muscles after a major injury, surgery and laying in bed for a month. C'mon guy.

Fitness is in no way defined by sculpted abs and toned muscles.

You are clearly a product of the gym bro mentality.

Me too! Compression fractured L2 bad enough to have L1-L3 fused, I have 2 small rods and 5 screws.

His back from about 2 inches above the scar down to his butt is swollen as hell. This guy isn't average in any way.

Don't let your memories be greater than your dreams.

Here's to hoping those memories will fade quickly, along with the pain.

It's nasty injury but his health and fitness is key to help cope with the increasing pain thresholds. I swapped up, bucked off and used my head to stop back in 2011. Burst fracture T7, compression fracture T5, T6 and T8. 2 rods, 6 screws. I've broken lots before, back and neck etc but this is by far the most painful recovery ever, 6 months of hell. Pain today is 4 out of 10.
