Glen Helen is a 250/OPEN 2 Stroke Race and not part of the Series and everyone is ok with that. With the hills and sand and everything else the bigger bikes work for us. The 125 series should be great as well. See the TM up against the Husky, KTM and Yamaha and the other brands. Good luck to the racers and enjoy.

Should be an open 2 stroke class. More people who would actually race this own 250 2 strokes.

But at least it's a start
While 250 2 strokes would be sweet as well... Open 2 Stroke is a completely different vibe than 125s only. 125 only just screams (literally) fun. I think the mass majority of vet riders look back at memories of riding, racing and watching the 125 pro classes as some of the best memories in MX. There is nothing quite like the sound, excitement and fun of a 125.

I haven’t been more excited to get to an outdoor National as I am this year because of this promo event. As the matter of fact, I plan to go to several just because of this sweet add. I know many others are thinking the same thing. The crowds have been dying a slow death in outdoor nationals... my guess is that these races will see a measurable uptick in attendance due to this simple addition.

Agreed, I haven't been to a national since the last Freestone race. No way I'm missing a pro 125 race. I'll see you in August Budds Creek.

My last national was also at Freestone. I forget what year. Andrew Short won a moto or both. I will be heading to some if these races this year because of the 125’s.

That's great to see a 125 2-stroke class, but why have an age cut-off on the bikes? What if someone had a fresh, trick '01 YZ125? Maybe with later models it lifts the seriousness of the class?

Ploy to push manufacturers to develop new 125 MX bikes?

I'm waiting for an answer and I only sent the form in for the Lakewood race so far but I would drive out to the east coast to race 125s.

Need to change thread title as Mx Sports didn't introduce shit . Like previously mentioned this is plagurism at it's finest. And this is why we can't have nice things......look at it this way if it doesn't make money they will drop it and steal another idea. The real reason the Dream Race thrived is Joey did it for the passion instead of $$ which is what built MX in the beginning.......
Precisely- The least MX Sports could have done is acknowledged what Joey, Kit and that Rockstar dude James something or other.... :-) built through pure Blood, Sweat and Gears! ;-) A sentence or two in the press release with a link to the real Dream Race site. How hard would that have been? So many opportunities missed here, such as the top 3 in each of the MX Sports All Star Series rounds advance to a Dream Race Showdown in August at the real event at Washougal or something along those lines.

If RV ran this number on his Yamy at Shougal it would be historic.

Chad Reed could do this but it'd mean he'd have to sit out the weekends National. He's self sponsored so maybe he could make it work. It'd be a good marketing move by Husky to help him do it I'd think. Are there any other current pro's racing the series who could do the same?

I am so damn excited for this! The sound of a screaming 125 2 Stroke gives me goosebumps and a quick adrenaline spike. Any word yet on if this will be part of the TV broadcast or shown with NBC Gold?

I was stating to wonder if I'd continue going to the nationals but now it's a no-brainer. It's all about the 125!

Can I bring a chainsaw, like they used to do in Europe? I want to rev that thing WFO to cheer the riders on!

Really pumped for this. Hopefully it will be televised. I had a blast at the Glen Helen MTA 2 stroke championships both racing and watching the pro classes. Nothing quick like the sound of crisp 2 strokes on the start gate and barking up Mount St Helens.

Reed is SX only. How good would it be if him and Villo raced every 125 round, we can dream can't we.

You’re not allowed to race the 125 race and either the 250 or 450 class. The 125 race is also concludes about ten mins before the start of the 250 Moto....none of the factory level guys in either class would risk it or do it, they have their focus for the day.

So.....from the sounds of it , since a guy can only race one event , and then the final if they place high enough......doesn't sound like to much of a professional series at all.

What is the reasoning for only being able to ride one event?

I like the fact that they at least getting the 125's out there.....but seriously , this sounds more like a highly OEM influenced shit show.

Not taking the class serious at all.....but instead making a fucking clown show out of it.

Are the EMX 125 and 300 classes in the GP's considered side show attraction? NOPE!! They actually have a lot of backing from the OEM's......which really makes you fucking wonder about what's going on over here. OEM's have no issue running those classes over there......so maybe the OEM's aren't the problem here either!!

Jeffro, it’s just getting rolling, calm yourself. Rome wasn’t built in a day and you’re not instantly going to get some massive full format 2 stroke series at the nationals. Ultimately the GP weekend is much longer and can support full events and not intermission races.

Appreciate it for what it is, support it, and help it grow...anger and shitty comments won’t help here much.

Since Reed isn't racing the outdoor series, couldn't he do one (or more) of the 125 races?

I'm just throwing this out there regarding the age of the bike... if the "local" promoter is in charge of the entries I seriously doubt anyone will be turned away for a cashed check entry.

Money talks.

Hell I think it'd be cool if at a few rounds they ran an ARMHA pre-1974 class. Full of old Hallman leathers and JOFA face masks !!

... psssst the tracks would be Southwick and 'Dilla ... for starters

So you can race more than one? Once you qualify, you are in for ironman final? 40 man gate at final?, What do you need to place to make the final at ironman. Lotta grey area questions. Thanks

I hear you and understand. And I understanding it's just starting up , but the way they have it structured , just seems diminishing in a way. Like it's a joke , and just something to fill the time until the 250F and 450F's hit the track again. That is why I'm frustrated. I watch how serious they take it over in the GP's , with kids getting full factory support from Husky , KTM , TM , Yamaha.......and here , nothing? It's like giving a full blown alcoholic one beer......and saying , " this should get you through ". And YES , I applaud something that is getting this off the ground.....I just don't understand the structure of it , compared to what the GP's are doing.
