Find someone local that has a decent rep. Make sure it includes them going to the track to fine tune it as part of the rebuild.

They are all good if you are honest about yourself.
Weight - really important, don't fudge or put what you are getting down to or what you want to weigh.
Skill - be real truthful. Regular racer? Play racer? Average? slow, old, more trails than track?
style - Sit down guy? Always over the bars? Roll on or Clutch Fanner?
Track type - Inter mediate? Hardpack, Sand, Mud? what is the primary surface you ride on?
I use Racetech and they have done very well for me. Good balance and nothing goofy in the corners or stutter bumps.
BUT, they have seen me ride. I usually manage to go by real slow so they can get a good look. Grinning
I get my stuff done due to my size (+240) no necessarily due to my blazing speed as a safety measure.

Factory connection blew away my local suspension guy. I love to support the local shops and the guys who are out here, but proof is in the pudding...

At a great price? You usually get what you pay when it comes to stuff like this. Be ready to shell out at least $500 for this work to be done right.

Pro circuit was my dream.

So I bought a brand new bike, and had only started it once ever.

The guy on the phone said I would be charged for seals, bushings, and all kinda of other stuff that was BRAND F-ing NEW...because, and quote, "Well, it might be slightly used, so we'll just replace it" My response, "Uhhh, IT'S BRAND NEW" Him again, "Yea, we'll replace it anyways with new OEM stuff"

I facepalmed, and called my local guy. He's great.

I've never been to any shop other than Factory Connection because they are right down the road from me so I can't compare them to anyone else. All I CAN say is that I have had modern day bikes from Suzuki, Kawi and Honda and every one them was spot on first try. Go local if you can but don't be afraid to send it out if your local guy can't match the experience and knowledge of a big name suspension shop like FC.

From my experience

Enzo for Yamaha
Pro Circuit for Kawi
Factory Connection for Honda...

Someone here said it this way...

Factory connection is good but Pro Circuit for faster guys. I agree currently having both.

Race Tech did my suspension a couple years ago. I ride an old 2003 Yamaha YZ125 that I was thinking it is what it is. Was I wrong! A huge difference in the performance of my bike. Guys watching my bike often say how good it looks on the track. Well worth the effort/ money to do. As a bonus I was lucky enough to have won a "suspension make over" contest sponsored by Race Tech on the Pulp MX Show when I had my stuff done!

factory connection.
X2 The FC guys we super helpful answering my questions and concerns before I even decided to use them. They sent me a box to ship my suspension, and turn around was only a week or two. They also internally shortened my shock and forks so I can almost get flat footed on my bike now and i'm 5'7" tall. Everyone says my bike rides like a Cadillac now. Big improvement over stock. 2013 CRF250r here.

Give Josh at EBR Performance a shot. He is a local guy in Houston that started in a garage, and now he is one of the biggest amateur support shops in the game. He has good pricing, yet some of the best results you can get.

In the last 4 decades of riding mx I've owned the 4 major Japanese brands & have had experiences with the suspension company's below. FC has had the best work & customer service. I'd highly recommend them.
FC, PC, RG3, Enzo, Racetech, MDK & 3 local company's (not very good).

It's worth it to pay extra to the reputable suspension shops as they have done the R&D..

I recommend Race Tech. Having many sets done over the years I don't think there's a better dollar for dollar value out there...... and the settings are always good. Also you could send it direct to them or call and get reffered to one of their local tuners so you get the benefits of the big company and the local guy at the same time.

Figured there'd be tons of responses to this entry. That bike has a smaller base piston than 03 and later. You can do quite a bit with those shocks. Mb1 or RG3 have good following from the showa people.
