I love April Fools day jokes

Must be hungry, and not for a ride or money. Things can come easy when you're that good. Wonder what a rejuvenated, hungry, self-assured, depressurized Dungey would do to this crowd? Lol

No one in his league on a 250 is coming down the pike either. Whistling

Roger is retiring and Ryan is sliding into the Mgr position. Not an earth shattering deal, one that we've all seen coming.

I understand his thought process during his last year of SX. Tomac was looking to be the new guy and was passing and dusting RD at will. Now that he's retired and has watched the outdoors and supercross so far he is seeing how consistently inconsistent Tomac is as well as the rest of the field. I don't think anyone would argue he would have won outdoors and would be leading supercross points right now. I totally get it if he comes back to racing. Can't blame the guy if he wants to financially set himself up so his great grandkids won't have to work a day in their life. Seeing a refreshed, recharged, hungry RD out there next year would be fucking awesome for sure.

I think back to when Damon Bradshaw came out of retirement ( I’m a huge Bradshaw fan ), and I was incredibly excited. In an article someone asked McGrath about what he thought and he said something along the lines of “ I was beating him before he retired, I expect I’ll still be beating him “. I would expect this holds true to the thoughts of Tomac, Roczen, et all.

Yeah no shit. Even if the guy told you, why would you get on a message board tell everyone that and post his picture. that's just lame you're better off saying" I heard from a source" then if it doesn't pan out no big deal just a little egg on your face
That's pretty funny!

Seriously though. Why the fuck would some outward facing christian kid get out as one of the all time greats, healthy, hawt wife, millions in the bank, young, can do anything time and money wise, and get back in for the chance at a another couple titles or millions. You'd have to be retarded or setting up an all time industry april fools.

Maybe because he realizes how lucky of an opportunity he has to race a dirt bike at an elite level and make millions. Something very few people get to experience.

A guy I work with makes a couple mil a year and has plenty of money to retire, but he still comes into the office and does the hard work. He says, why work so hard getting to that point of success and then just let it go. Why not take full advantage and do what most people dream about. No he isn't risking his life like mx, but the point is why walk away from the top if you are leaving a lot on the table. Competitive spirit, money, fame? These are addicting.

For the record, I do not think he will come out of retirement. If he does I don't blame him.

It would be cool to see.

Without reading all 3 pages of this nonsense, I’m going to say his big announcement is Lindsay is pregnant.

Considering the shirt he's wearing is a St. Jude's shirt and the next picture in this IG post is Ralph, Fro, and Jenny Taft wearing the same shirt and the announcement is at the Minneapolis SX, I'm going out on a limb and say they are announcing the 2018 Minnesota Major St. Jude Ride and 5k Run on July 28, 2018.

Both you and Crush make a good argument on the why's and why not's of a Dungey return. I wish it was true though... to an extent. Would love to see a fresh and confident Dunge on the line. However, he's done his thing and has wrapped it up. I would hate to see him return and get injured. This sport is cruel. Dude did a stellar job at keeping the damage minimal throughout his career. I miss watching him race. I don't believe he's coming back. Perhaps we'll see him race straight rhythm.

i could definitely see dungey coming back. being such a motivated, hard working type guy that truly loved and appreciated his opportunity. and being at the track every week. just giving him the itch... if you dont think theres a chance of him coming back, then go to the races every weekend without your bike, and tell me how you feel.

He is human... Who doesn't like making money? He didn't have the RV2 burned out look when he walked away. And still seems to be training/riding. Probably looking back and seeing how much money he left on the table.

Lets face it. The top guys are making great money, but not "stick and ball" pro contracts. And retiring at mid-late 20s. Before starting a family... Bills haven't hit yet.... Make all the cash you can RD5!!! haha.

Im sure finding a job in the industry wont be hard, especially with his success, but how much and for how long. Only so many of those to go around. the growth of the sport isn't busting at that seams... To think RV wouldn't be with Kawi and wearing Thor any longer. The first unstable market crisis hit, "brand ambassador" jobs are the first to go.

I guess the most logical thing to do would be to wait and see what will be announced. Everything else is just speculation right? Why retire and come back?..is it possible he’s changed his mind, sure. Is it possible it’s for a charity or a pregnancy, yep.
Either way it’s probably good news. I’ll wait and hear it first before I gossip like a Kardashian fan that loves tmz. By the way what’s up kpersonius264 let’s suit up down here at my place In so cal.

As others have said, he had an amazing career, checked out at the top on top and did it all while remaining relatively healthy. I personally wouldn't want him to come back to racing, but I do hope we see him do some no pressure, fun events for the fans.

For those too lazy to click on MXMIKEMX's link, a direct quote from The Man:

"In regards to the rumor, DeCoster stated without hesitation that Dungey will not be on the starting line for the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship or any other pro race in the future."
