I would hate to be an OEM this day in age. Everyone expects 0 fails/defects per machine and then bitches when something does happen.

You've got a company that is more than willing to work with customers on low hour warranty claims.

you put nearly 50 hours on a machine and then something broke. Cool. Let them fix it or fix it yourself and move on.

I have no inside knowledge but i would guess that they wont go back anytime soon. Unless they choose to put a cheaper version of the CV forks on the bikes.

The AER 48 fork is one of the best stock forks.

Having said that I have about 45hrs on my 2017 and have had no issue, I have not seen or heard of this anywhere other than on Vital which tells me it is not as common as Vital make out. I've probably seen 3 complaints posted here in total.
Not everyone posts on Vital and not all Vital members post every time their bike breaks. Some just handle it and move on.

Why is the axle in wrong? It looks right to me. I'm actually tearing it down right now and will be using the CRF450 Ti axle and blocks anyways.

There is no such thing as operator execution error around here. You should know that.

Pull the forks off, take them to the KTM dealer, tell them it's a 50 hour bike, and that you want the forks fixed.

If they work with KTM to cover it- awesome!

If not, god forbid you have to pay for your forks to be serviced before the 50,000 hour mark.

OP - please be sure to create a follow-on post about the horrendous dealership service you will undoubtedly receive.

i'll tell you what I would do!

1) Create an account on Vital and post about it! Make sure you point out that the issue is known but "should have been fixed"

2) Load up that POS lemon and drive it back to the dealer. don't call ahead of time or tip them off as to what's coming. I hear they like being surprised with walk-ins!

3) Walk in the place like you own it! Demand to speak with the service manager. Refuse to leave until you make it clear you had no part of the failure and parts and labor should be 100% comped

4) Wait for the dealer to replace, free of charge. When finished, make sure to tell them it better not happen again or you will be riding another brand because they always like to hear customer feedback.

I've had half a dozen KTM's in the last decade and if there were any issues, KTM always took care of it whether low hours or more. My main reason for staying with the brand, warranty after 30 days, even if it's not implied. Try that with the jap's...

Awesome upgrade but hardly necessary for mortals. Those are people with money burning a hole in their pocket. I know plenty of people with money who have A kit forks on all the other types of bikes as well.
