Monster / 30sec Card Girls

Don't go to the beach or a surf contest because you might see this....women's pro surfing actually gained some popularity in recent years due to the "bottom turn"....

yeah, stay away from the beach we need to thin the crowd.

I feel like lots of opinions get voiced in this sort of issue without anyone being real.

First. Sex sells.

Second. It sells to everyone.

The family sport argument? A lot of families are raising little cunts. You know how I know? Because there are a lot of cunts out there.

So whilst you can say it demeans, detracts, deters etc, well, I don't know if you took an IQ swab around your local pits lately but this post would seem polite some days so maybe do less with the moral high ground.

Should we aspire for more? Maybe. Will it make a difference? No. My wife isn't watching F1 because of the grid girls. She's not watching it because it's boring as hell and she doesn't give a fuck. And I'm certainly not raising my Daughter to expect everyone will be as good to her as I am her Mum.

Same with MX, I don't know if you've ever noticed, but people who aren't into MX, think it's boring as batshit. Unless you ride, that's it. Which is the BIGGEST problem we have, not a bit of qwacka-tinged lycra.
Sweet Epic Rant. I enjoyed it.

I'm not proposing anything. I'm trying to create a discussion around a topic that I find interesting.

I honestly do not feel that passionate about the issue, I just think it's relevant to our sport. For one thing, people mention frequently how "motocross is a family sport"... well, it's hard to be family oriented when the only females involved are presented as commodities with no value beyond aesthetics... seems like an odd message from a family-oriented source.

If you don't think it's about objectification of women, try thinking of the last time you saw a straight up ugly female standing on the podium, holding the 30-second card, or interviewing riders.

To point out the absurdity and hypocrisy even further, imagine how it would be received if instead of a half-naked female, it was a half-naked dude holding the 30-second card - talk about sex scandals. If it's not appropriate for one, why is it appropriate for another?

And for the record, I'm libertarian, not liberal. So, I don't believe that anyone should be forced to do anything - whether it has to do with 30-second card girls, guns, drugs, or whatever. TO EACH HIS OWN.

I'm just trying to start a discussion... not label people liberals or conservatives as a guide to dismiss their posts.
Amateur Motocross is a family sport. GNCC racing is a family sport. Pro Motocross is also a (relatively) family sport. SX...every man for himself

Ashley Fiolek was pretty rad in her days. Her being deaf and beating Jessica Patterson in her prime is a true testament to her talent. If I recall a woman tried to qualify for a couple SX rounds a year or two ago, I don't think she made the night show but she got mentioned on TV. Not sure what she has done since, or even her name off the top my head.

I completely agree with getting rid of all cheerleaders, Monster Girls, etc. And as a pubic service, I am offering for them all to come and live at my house, so that there is no way they can end up on tv and risk offending anyone.

I'll take that bullet, bros.

(BTW, there are no typos in my post...)
That's funny shit!! Lmao.

How come they only mention the Monster girls. Have you seen NBA and NFL cheerleaders?

They're more like smoking hot dancers.

Get rid of them too? Where do we draw the line?
Plus, those girls are much smarter than some are giving them credit for.

I remember DC posting that the girls he hires for the National's are all in college and very bright.

It kinda seems like the OPs discussion points revolved around the monster girls being a tacky and unnecessary part of the show. You guys dumped the white knight shtick on him.
Objectifying women happens to be one of my favorite past times. I just don't think it adds anything to the SX experience. And, in my opinion, it definitely detracts from the professionalism.

During the trophy presentation at my first race, the Mini Sr. class at the Austin night track I saw the smoking hot trophy girl kiss the winner of the 125 Expert class on the podium. I was more than impressed, ha. It was 1978.
These days I don’t care for seeing a ME girl turning the 30sec card, but enjoy one or two on the podium.

Not sure if that’s directly on topic but I thought you Vets may get a laugh.

F1 is re-evaluating it's use of "Grid Girls". These Grid Girls seem similar to the Monster Girls/Lucas Oil Girls and 30-second card girls employed in SX and MX.

From the article "There's a lot of people respect the tradition of the grid girls and there's people who feel that it has become a bit dated, so we're addressing that."

In regards to MX and SX, I have personally felt this way for a long time. I am different than most men, there is no appeal to seeing models awkwardly stand around guys on the podium. Similarly, I don't understand the rationale behind a model holding the 30 second card while an official stands right next to her. It just seems juvenile and as though the promoters are appealing to the lowest common denominator.

Same thing with Miss Supercross - what is that about? She isn't bringing any information to the table that is new or intriguing, and generally it's painfully awkward to hear her stumble through whatever Twitter segment they have her doing.

I'm simply looking to start a discussion with this topic. Discuss, debate, flame, whatever.

I completely agree with you. It's even more embarrassing than the Ronnie Mac stuff. A way better idea would be to have some local amateur kids doing the 30 sec board/ trophy presentations/ etc. That way they get to get their own sponsors some publicity, and motocross can actually be called a family sport.

If you want to watch motorsport, watch motorsport. If you want to look at tits, they have places for that too. I'd swear some of you never made it past puberty.

I get that the women working for Monster Energy are doing so consensually, and are earning good money doing so. I just don't think the job they perform is either necessary or appropriate.

On the subject of "sex sells": according to studies on the subject, sex sells sex, not products. If you see a half naked Monster Energy girl walking through the pits, what are you thinking about? You're thinking about her, not about Monster Energy. I think they call it the vampire effect. It's a waste of everyone's time. Whenever I buy energy drinks (which is basically never - they're poison), I make sure to buy Red Bull. They do cool shit with their marketing budget, like Felix Baumgartner's space jump, or the Red Bull Rampage, while Monster just hire hot women to wear barely anything and be in photos.

"Monster Energy girl" It's name recognition. How many times in this thread has "Monster Energy Girl" been typed, said, thought, seen, etc.

It's like the Canadian girl GIF that used to show up around here pretty often. I call it the "Canadian Girl" GIF because of the leaf on her draws. If I knew her name, I would still call her the "Canadian Girl". See?
