That is true, you never said you wanted them to let him keep his number but you said the AMA would "want to make him happy"...
That is true, you never said you wanted them to let him keep his number but you said the AMA would "want to make him happy" which is preposterous. Before the drug suspension and he terrible results following that, I would agree, since then? No way, they have no reason to help James, the sport has moved on and you should also.

But, he isnt returning, so like I said its a moot point.
I don't think he will return either. But IMOP I think if he did & wanted his number, they would hold it for him. Like him or not he puts people in seats. The average person who comes to an SX probably has no clue who Zack is.

I kind of suggested that already a month ago and was sort of accused of being an idiot. I still say that if Dungey told the AMA to let Zach have the #5, they would let him, but what do I know.

If Dungey announces his retirement, also take the retirement of his number , for me the 5 must be free.

Stewart not announced his retirement, Dungey yes. If I to be a rider who want a single digit number, I would request the 5, never the 7 if JS7 has not announced his retirement and not for more than a year without competing.

I wouldn't touch the number. Too much drama surrounding it. I thought it was pretty ballsy for Webb to take the #2. I mean hell, look who he's following: McGrath and Villopoto. That's nothing, right?
What drama?

I did hear that the AMA was asked if the 7 was available, and the answer was yes.

If he wanted #7, he would have been out there. Give it to a person who earned it this year. Doubt ama cares, and I guess James doesn't either. Earn the number, simple.

My opinion doesnt mean s#@t but I can't see why James should get to keep the #7.

No way the AMA would let him take #7. Say what you want, bla bla bla. If they think Stew will return they will hold it for him. I know the rules but they can change them at will.
Yeah, they will break the rules for him no doubt. It's 100% wrong, but they'll do it anyway. Osborne deserves 7. Personally if I were him, I still wouldn't take it - comes with too much baggage.

I was disappointed he didn't get to run 1 this weekend, especially given he's moving up and won't have a chance chance to run it next year.

That's a good reason for someone to take the number, get rid of the baggage that current number has. Reward the racer who earned it, if he wants it. It's only a number, Zach won't carry baggage, drama with it. He earned it. His choice.

Aside from the great riders that have had 7, 8 or 16 over the years (1980 on), here's** riders that have had:

16 & 8:
Scott Burnworth
Erik Kehoe
Doug Henry
Greg Albertyn

16 & 7:
Marty Tripes
Doug Dubach
John Dowd
Greg Albertyn

** To the best of my useless trivia research!

Just trolling the fans on social media again. Same as this little nugget back in January...

It's been 16 years since a Saturday night in Jan came and i wasn't in a stadium doing what I love. But all I can say is it won't last for long!!! Truly can't tell ya how much I'm looking forward to returning doing it my way. After months of trying to make things happen, i realize that no matter what I would do, it wasn't going to work. You keep doing the samething then it's no one else fault besides your own no matter who's doing it to ya. So we're doing it on our own To all that supported me... I'll see you soon. Too all that didn't... I'll see you soon. Wanna thank all my sponsors that are supporting me thru this adventure @redbull @gopro @oakley @dcshoes@sevenmx_ @bell_powersports. And most importantly, I wanna thank my fans for being Ultra Patient with me thru all of this. Wasn't until last week that I actually had a final plan to go at it this way. For those that tried to break me. Sorry... but you can't get rid of me that easy. Not quite done yet!

Like I said before, the muppets who are still gullible enough to support him will hear from him when he needs something (exposure for sponsors, publicity etc.) from them, not a second before.

If James wanted the number he should have raced. He didnt. Now its up for grabs. End of story. He has not even been seen in a year. Hes retired if he likes it or not.
