How long does it take to rip a track?

'Cause... I feel like if they didn't do it till like 4am, if they could, this could be avoided.

Track might be great by race time regardless, but it seems like many are over the rut-o-cross...

Tractors have lights right?

My experience is that if you keep it buttoned up then rip it after the rain it dries fast. Almost too fast for my liking.

Its either ruts or dust. We can only have one of those. Ripping a track in the dark could have a few nasty outcomes.

Let the pros do what they do

So is dust and hard pack, but the people prepping the tracks always choose the ruts.

Absolutely. At least it was in the 70s and 80s. I wonder how many tire treads and compounds are available at the races these days. All the tracks are prepped about the same. I'd like to see Unadilla covered in grass again.

I used to love the way Unadilla ran in the 70's and 80's. plant thick grass and let the bikes mulch it up. The moisture from the freshly shredded grass kept the dust level contained, and it didn't rut up deep allowing the ability to change lines at any time. I'd love watching a couple guys battle and the chase rider squaring an arc changing lines mid turn. I think it made for better racing. You're not squaring out of a rut mid turn to change lines, not effectively at least.

I've watched them do wlashougal many times over 30 years it takes a lot more time than you think. Most of the time they are working on the track pretty much within half an hour of racing convening Until Dark

This battle would not have been the same had there been 2 foot ruts everywhere and they not had the opportunities to block pass and cut down mid corner.

"How long does it take to rip a track?"......don't know, why do you ask?

"'Cause... I feel like if they didn't do it till like 4am, if they could, this could be avoided.".....Huh

"Track might be great by race time regardless, but it seems like many are over the rut-o-cross..." ......Unsure

"Tractors have lights right?"....Yes.

Funny thing is, while I'm trying to make sense out of what you posted....everyone above me is replying to you like you made perfectly good sense. Vital bizarro-world.
