Tomac - Were The 2 Points Worth The Risk?

Didn't anyone see the multiple posts that it was the master cylinder. If the mater cylinder won't release, cracking the bleed screw will work until he pulls the lever again. What do some of you guys want, a Kawasaki mechanic at every turn with an 8 mm wrench to crack the bleed screw so he can move on down the track, of course he'll need to pull in every lap to refill the reservoir. GuyB even mentioned that you will most likely see Kawasakis tried and true master cylinder from years gone by back on Eli's handlebar next week. Doubt this will happen again.

Don't fret guys, that red plate weighs so much on that green bike that it can't leave the gate and works like an anchor. Next week he will be back to normal with the extra lightweight white backed plate. STAMP IT.

Absolutely worth the risk. Every point matters and I'm sure he backed down his pace on the downhills to compensate for it.

Don't worry. I'm sure the best rider in the world was able to navigate the race track safely knowing he didn't have a front brake.
How many spodes do you think ride there daily that don't even touch their "working" front break?

What, in your opinion, would have made it worth it?

20 points or nothing?

Was Dungey last lap pass of seeley at Daytona for two extra points "worth it"?

If ET had gone back to the pits a bunch of the same people questioning his and kawasaki's choice would be calling him a quitter and a picture of magoo riding with the bent handlebars would have inevitably been posted.

Instead he went out there and proved to be as much of a fighter as previous racing legends like magoo.

I think you're misunderstanding my point.

So you have a frozen on brake system- we can grab a pair of side cutters & wrestle with the braided hose to relieve the pressure,

Or,

Grab the 8mm (from the same box as the side cutters btw..) and crank off the bleed nipple. And leave it cranked off. I'm not suggesting they could perform a brake bleed mid-race.

Same result, easier, quicker, less mess, less damage, less risk further on as you don't have two ends of brake hose flapping about.

But it is less drama for tv.

I am not bagging on et3 here, it applies to everyone... But this is once again a case where all those people n the industry that say they are all about rider safety, are full of shit.... nobody should be allowed back on track with a non functional brake... Yes, if u care about real safety, it should be a rule....

But then, too many people only care about using the riders to line their pockets, not about their personal long term well-being...

I hope they ditch that master cylinder and use the kawasaki one. Thats twice the brake locked on him and caused problems. Tomac is going to just need to learn to use high quality kawi brakes.
