You're just trying to just the legitimize the actions from last night... NFL will help others reach milestones true but they don't throw a game while doing so..

NBA is determining if players resting is an illegitimate practice!

Ppl do help others yes it's true!.. but to hand deliver a fucking win on a silver platter is absolutely unacceptable!!..

If dungey had 72 SX wins and on his 73rd win musquin pulled over so said guy could break Carmichaels win record? That would be ok and Ricky would be totally happy for dungey breaking records by getting handed wins!..

Come on guy!
In 2001 Ricky Carmichael himself dropped down to the 125 class after clinching the 250 outdoor championship to break the 125 all time win record. Mike Brown, with the championship secured, dropped back a position to let Ricky win the overall and get the record.

http://vault.racerxonline.com/2001/mx/intro
"Carmichael started nearly last in the first moto and could only get to third. Brown won the race (and flipped off Langston at the finish!) to close in on points, but Langston still had a slight points lead. Then Brown crashed early in moto two. With Carmichael pulling out a massive lead, Langston circulated up front, looking to cruise home with KTM’s first-ever AMA National Championship. Then disaster struck. Spokes started breaking on Langston’s rear wheel. Brown was coming through traffic in a hurry, while Langston started falling through the pack. Finally, in the waning moments, Langston’s wheel collapsed, and so did his championship hopes. Brown had it, so he even moved over to allow Brandon Jesseman to pass him, thus giving Carmichael the overall (and all-time 125 win record) via 3-1 scores. And Brown won the championship, celebrating with tears of joy at the finish, while Langston sat in the mechanics’ area about 20 feet away, crying, as well, over a championship lost to a broken wheel."

Touché, All in all none of this makes it ok to give up the lead and ultimately race win to benefit another individual!.. Racing is a sport where the best man wins on any given night and that's the bottom line. This a professional sport where 30-60,000 fans pack the stadiums with tickets mainly purchased with hard earned money to see a race battled to the end with the fastest rider earning the "W" and anything less than that is a mockery of the sport!

It blows my mind that people actually have the attitude like "who cares!" How do you not feel cheated by it.. Like how is this acceptable!

I believe the mechanics signboards say it all! "U CAN" is basically all I needed to read before knowing he was gonna make some sort of an intentional mistake to let Dungey bye. This is all predestined and set to make it work in Ktm's favor...if I was a team owner or team manager you can bet your ass I would do the same thing! You gotta make sure you are always two steps ahead...specially at crunch time.

I don't feel "cheated" by it because I understand professional racing organizations, so, before I tune in or buy that ticket, I know damn well what I've signed up for.

In the late stages of that race, I fully expected Musquin to let Dungey through. Emig and Shaheen were openly discussing it before it happened. The only think I didn't understand was why Tomac hadn't gotten by Grant a long time before that.

Next thing I know, I come by this place, and the simpletons are out of their minds with indignation. I dunno about you, but I'm not 14 years old, and I get how this stuff works.

Either you're trolling, or you're just not using your noodle. Any racer, anywhere, at any time or place, can let any other racer anywhere beat them if they choose to. Period. Heck, Musquin could have stopped one inch shy of the finish line and let every racer LAP him ten times - IF HE CHOSE TO.

Pulling over is not the same as fixing or predetermining a race. Even if you could argue that Marvin intentionally pulled over, you couldn't show that it was predetermined, not to mention that if Marvin pulled over, it would be MARVIN that would be breaking the rules, and it would be MARVIN that should be punished. Yet, you wish bad luck on Dungey next week? Do you find that acceptable?
pilotdude is a big time RV fan and has been crapping on Dungey forever, he's just sour his rider decided to hang it up instead of keep fighting for championships

This isn't a court of law, and proof "beyond a reasonable doubt" would not be required. No reasonable person would try to argue that Musquin didn't pull over.

Here's what happened:

1. Tomac, for whatever reason, had a very sub-par night. Bad night to do so. Bad, bad, bad.

2. Marvin pulled over, against the rules, and let Dungey by to pad his points lead. Dungey now has a 9 point lead instead of a 6 point lead.

Now you will see the moon turn into cheese before you see the powers that be take any action against the obvious violation of which Musquin is guilty. They took action against Savatgy for his violation, however. Pick and choose rule enforcement is the worst of all worlds, because what it really means is there are no rules, just preference, bias, corruption, and bribery.

I would have greatly preferred seeing Musquin win the race, and see Dungey with a 6 point lead...which would still be very hard for Tomac to overcome. Then, the only thing we would be talking about today is how badly Tomac blew it.

Now I hope either one of 2 things happen in Vegas:

1. Dungey has a mechanical and is unable to finish the race and loses the championship or

2. Dungey goes down in the first turn and has to make a charge through the pack, but only charges far enough so that they end the season tied on points, and Tomac wins the championship due to his far higher number of wins as the tie breaker.

I completely understand why Musquin and KTM did what they did, but I just cannot respect it and I hope some cosmic justice occurs, because human justice will not.

Some of you have serious issues. You Tomac fanboys are so butthurt, I just can't wrap my mind around it. It's not fucking cheating what Musquin did. He is a professional supercross racer/adult that can make his own decisions. He could pull over, lay down, and take a nap on a tuff block if he really wanted to. The "tactic" is something you cannot prove, so there is no point is saying he broke a "rule".

But please, keep crying, y'alls tears are glorious.

This rule is equally applicable here. Based on the rulebook and the proof available I think the ama could hand down a penalty. But it's just not how things work in mx/sx and motorsports in general. Team tactics are generally accepted.

There is literally no proof. A rider can make up a million and one reasons and I'm pretty sure the AMA can't read minds. The only way this rule would ever be enforced is if someone admitted it to them.

The facts are tomac faltered all day and crashed. Dungey rode like he does and once again his consistency pays off. Marvin should have won but choose not to ether by his team or his own self.t sucks as a fan to watch this but it's understandable. Personally I wanted to see tomac win and he should have but his mechanical earlier in the season really screwed him over. One could say he would have a 20pt lead even after last night if that didn't happen but things are unpredictable.

You're missing my point!.. I understand this bro code called team tactics when you race for "factory" teams..

Any sport where an obvious flop/ embellishment is an on the spot foul and fines punishment will be handed out after review.

My point is this a PROfessional sport and must be conducted in such a manner to uphold the integrity of the sport it's self.

The AMA needs to step in and end these ridiculous antics and let the individuals race and the best man win.

You would never see this shit in amateurs so why is it acceptable at a pro level.

I don't care that NASCAR does it or any other sport. I care that its happening in the sport I'm passionate and actively involved with.

I guess values are completely obsolete these days. God forbid anyone who still has any sort of value.

Musquin has to feel completely betrayed and stripped of his dignity.

I'm just curious, you seem so heartbroken and crestfallen - why do you think Musquin's actions reflect a LACK of integrity? Why do you think he must feel "stripped of his dignity"? Maybe he didn't do what YOU wanted him to, but that doesn't mean he didn't do what HE wanted to do in accordance with his own deeply-held personal values. Maybe you don't like Dungey, but maybe Marvin DOES. Maybe he feels a tremendous amount of GRATITUDE toward him for mentoring him, and maybe, just maybe, that colored his desire to win. I just want to know why there would be a rule in the rulebook but yet it's done so blatantly and nothings done about it? I don't think anyone should be penalized, it's happened many times in the history of the sport. But I just can't understand why they would have the rule only to completely ignore it. If you're not going to enforce a rule, why have it in the rulebook?

Plain and simple Marv and the KTM team broke the rules, he did not try to succeed...

Marvin wanted it to be known that he is the "new Kid" so to speak so he made it known that he can pass Dungey (Decoster said this at the beginning of the season and now its coming true as MM gains his confidence). Once he did and knowing he has a new contract, let him by for KTMs sake, more money for everyone!

Well if that is the rule Jeff Allessi should be DQ'd from all races as he opening admits to only trying during the LCQ as he has already made up his mind he can't make it thru a heat or semi. Reed to, obviously he wasn't trying in the race he blocked Dungey as he dropped his lap times 2 seconds when Ryan was behind him...Must not of been trying to succeed in the earlier laps

The AMA and Gallagher are so incompetent the pit board could have said "let Ryan bye" and nothing would happen.

Eli cased the double of triple and stalled, should be and auto DQ.

Some of you guys are hilarious. What is your vendetta against this whole situation? The one brainless zombie says this does not happen in any other sport without penalty. What about F1 when the team managers flat out say to let the faster driver through. Or NHRA when the teammates car smokes the tire at the hit of the throttle.

Let me put it to you this way: surely you've seen those track meets where the leaders of a race stop at the end and "fix" a race so that another racer wins the event (for whatever reason). Those runners don't do that because they LACK values, they do it because they POSESS values, values that pay off not in the near-term of immediate success, but over the long haul that unfolds in the rest of their lives.
Because when the trophy is presented it doesn't say Marvin Musquin and Ryan Dungey. It doesn't say KTM or Roger Decoster. When Ryan is up there he's gonna thank everyone including musquin. That's gonna be it!.. The story is gonna be remembered that Tomac threw it away and musquin pulled over so the guy that rides under the same canopy could pass him.

When you grow up racing trying to win your entire life to make a career out of racing that only so few of people get to do and then to have the team pay you big bucks and tell you not to win of course we all say if they pay me that kind of money I would do this or that I get it..

But again you guys are completely missing my point the Ama needs to have an embellishment rule and penalties should be implemented for the complete obvious shit like that doesn't make a joke out of the sport.. every one knows a flop when you see it and musquin flopped and team, riders should be penalized.

I don't know what musquin thinks but it looked like he thought it was a joke..

My point again is that rules need to be implemented enforced to keep ridiculous shit like this from happening it's a joke and it's disgusting to see happen on a professional level!

Well sorry but if you weren't aware this is MX man, F1 and NHRA don't matter. I don't have any sort of vendetta against it, there's a lot of money at stake and it's what you do when you have a boss. My whole point is the entire situation speaks to how messed up this sport is. They have a rule that can be blatantly broken with no consequences, in my opinion just remove the rule altogether so threads like wouldn't end up with four pages. But if you're going to keep the rule in there and not enforce it is stupid.

Actually Dungey has been my favorite rider since RV retired. Tomac is another favorite, and the faster rider although not as consistent.

Or they could have just wrote "It's just a dirt bike race". The "Let Broc Bye" happened years ago but is still remembered as Team Yamaha cheating to change the outcome of a Championship. It made Yamaha look bad and people knew Broc Glover winning the Championship was not legit.
Danny Laporte never complained but here you are 30 years later crying about it lol

The funny part is after last night, Marvin will only be remembered as the guy who let Dungey by. For the next 20 years. That's his legacy now. Sure he got his new contract and his money, but in bench racing he will be remembered as the guy who is Dungey's little buddy.
Dude you are a retard and if that is how bench races like you remember him, I bet he is OK with it. Funny part is he has never heard of you, or ever will.Laughing Wink
