I'm talking albums you thought would be good, you buy it, listen to a handful of times and then never again. Or maybe the band was once great, got lazy or too big of egos or just flat out ran out of creativity. Here are a few of my disappointments over the years.

St. Anger and the 2005 album from System of a Down, and the 2004 album from The Streets - so bad

My biggest disappointment at the time was Atom Heart Mother by Floyd.

There were many duds by many bands but this one really stood out more and more over time because of the quality stuff they put out before and after. Most bands just fade away as they run out of ideas.

Zep's slow decline was disappointing but not remarkable.

Clapton's several misfires after Blind Faith was disappointing to me also. He pulled out of it eventually.

Yeah it's a pretty terrible CD. Especially on the heels Use your Illusion 1 and 2 which were decent. Then they laid this egg, err, spaghetti.

This album was so bad, even though it was free, and everyone with an itunes account got it free (whether you wanted it or not), people hated it and deleted it.

Personally, I thought that they had a Benjamin Button like career. They ceased being a good band a LONG time before this album but there is no denying their popularity.

Van Halen Diver Down? That was an awesome one. Yes I know it's mostly cover tunes, but still one of the good ones.

I guess it really depends on if you are a fan of the band or not. U2 is one of my favorite bands, and I loved that album. One thing I appreciate about U2 is they take a lot of time and put in a lot of effort when making albums. In my opinion that's a podium contender for U2. Their last two albums are both in my top 5. Pretty amazing for a band that has been at for 37 years.

I liked Anamalize Creatures of the Night and Lick it Up all right. Dynasty, Unmasked and the Elder album are pretty much garbage. I bought music from the Elder sometime in the 80's to round out my collection and thought it was a very cheap Queen ripoff.

I hear ya on Diver Down, but if you look at the sequence of releases from OG Van Halen (I, II, W& C First, Fair Warning, DD, 1984) it is the turd of the bunch.

By the same note I thought Theater of Pain and Ultimate Sin were bad ass. Cool topic though!

Agree, Diver Down didn't measure up to the previous VH stuff, but it wasn't terrible. Now, "Van Halen III"...that was a terrible album.

Lots of people loved Eliminator but, I hated the guitar tone and triggered drum sound. Any ZZ Top album prior to that mops the floor with it imo.

Yeah, that's why I started it. I know which ones I think are duds but I just wanted see if there was some consensus or if it's just a matter of taste. For me Theater of Pain was my ultimate disappointment. I was headed into 7th grade living in SoCal. Listened to Shout at the Devil practically on a loop when it was popular and was so excited for Theatre of Pain to Come. Got it on the day it was released. Was pissed not only about the music but that they went full transgendered.

What's even worse is when the original albums were remastered with the flashier drums, since Eliminator was a success. I don't think the original mixes are available on CD. I have the first album and Tres Hombres on vinyl just for the raw sound.

A lot of that shit is the label wanting bands to catch lightening in a bottle. My sons band got pressured into using their producer to make "hits". When it was finished the label was disappointed and didn't want to support it. They had some early minor success but it went nowhere. Fucken music business sucks. It's an inverted pyramid with the artists at the bottom.

I gave this album multiple attempts to win me over. The more I listened, the more I hated it. This album holds the distinction of being the only one I've ever bought and paid for on iTunes and then deleted.

I loved Queensryche. I saw them open for Metallica in 1988 for Mind Crime and they freaking great. I liked Empre a lot, though much more commercial. Then when I was in college a dude on my floor got Promised Land and I thought that was their over the cliff album. Didn't like it at all. Geoff Tate is a loon and that's probably why tanked.

Of course. You think of all the 80's decent rock bands that were made into pop glam, Warrant comes to mind. Or all of the metal bands that tried to become alternative or industrial sounding in the 90's. Metallica being the epitome of it but most popular metal bands made very bad mid to late 90's music trying to chase the trends.

Nope. I'll listen to Faithfully if it comes on Sirius and my wife is in the car because she's a big Journey fan. Not the first two, though........

Operation Mindcrime and Livecrime are very good albums. Empire is beyond great. Easily one of the top 5 albums that I've listened the most. Promised Land is still quite good IMO, but after that it went steep downhill.
