You do realise that Seely is hired to be in the top 10 consistently and have an occasional podium night. You do realise that HRC lost there race horse Kenny early in the season. And if anyone is winning a marketing war its Kawasaki at this moment nobody cares about second true 10th in Marketing the WINNER is what counts the most all the rest are forgotten within a few weeks. I know for a fact that i don't know who was second or third 4 races ago without looking it up but i know Tomac won that race on a kawasaki.

Seely is NOT hired to be just top ten. And marketing is not just about the winner.

In plenty of ways KTM has broken through to the American market and are definitely on par with the Japanese bikes but there is definitely still people who will not go near a KTM due to bad experiences with them prior. Obviously the same can said for any Japanese bike, too, but I actually hear quite a bit of people talking how they would never buy a KTM.

Funny, if Roczen hadnt of got injured then this thread would no exist....but anyway sure HRC have to be gutted that they lost Roczen who had won every main before getting injured, and Seely is not preforming to his and their dreams but shit happens.

They are probably happy that Kawasaki is a big threat to the title than KTM IF indeed they even care about KTM's results. No one knows how they feel except for themselves, certainly not anyone on Vital.

With Martin, Gajser, Roczen on the team for 2018 then perhaps we will see more wins and Hondas in the top ten.

I think (no I havent checked but I would be sure) if you look at the seasons top 20 results then Honda and Suzuki figure more prominently than KTM if you really want to pick at straws Smile

Honda was beating them back when they had the XR650R and Kawasaki was still racing their KX500 beast...

Is it really a win in marketing when you flood the market with bikes? I could have my own bike company and approach 5 teams and give them one heck of a deal to ride my bikes and make it look like my bikes are killing the competition. Same as KTM does. TLD was Honda for years, then KTM offered a deal Honda wouldnt match. The team is having pretty much the same results. Flashes of winning, lots of almosts. BTO on KTM now, mediocre results, same as before. There are only 2 KTM's worth noting.

4 & 5th mediocre results? OK Weird way of looking at things.

PS: Wins from the '80 nor the '90 count really for the marketing teams. Because I don't see Honda use JM Bayle, JMcGrath wins to sell a brand new 450. Honda tries to use their legacy of building championships bikes but really footage of Ward to sell your 2017 bikes?

If I read some comments here I think some would like to see those brands selling their old models. Maybe Honda can re-introduce their CR250 1993 in 2017 because back then it was great! And maybe Kawasaki can re-introduce their KX500 1989 because back then it was great...

I do see a lot of steel framed bikes running up front lately. Whatever that means.

Those same riders were in the same positions last year on different bikes. Moving to KTM didnt make top 15 riders top 5 riders. It made top 5 riders top 5 riders and top 10 riders stayed top 10 riders with exception of Canard who has fallen off the map on the KTM. Moving to KTM has done zero for improved results for these riders.
