A 250-300 two stroke can be a tractor. And you don't have all the weight and engine inertia of a four stroke.

A stock 250F nowadays gets up to 43HP. STOCK. Now put in all that extra mod money into the engine and you could get 50 HP easy. Back in '06 they had the article of Langston's Pro-Circuit Kawi 250F getting 44HP as a factory bike. Technology has come a long way in 11 years. Those bikes can make 50HP, but they can only last for a few hours and then need to be rebuilt completely. How else could Mookie or Benny Bloss jump a triple so easy? They are way too big for those 250's. Those bikes make a lot of power with a lot of money thrown at the engine...

It would be nice if they came out with a 350 that was stock at 50HP that way you don't have to spend another $6000 into the engine of a 250F to get that HP.

As crazy as that sounds, that would be an easier sell for people possibly. You do a 10hp for kids, 25hp, 50hp, 70hp. Very interesting idea...

Why not just limit the CC in the lites class and make the Premier class open?

You want to ride a 65hp 4 stroke or a 50hp 4 stroke? Awesome. Someone out there will be on a 90hp 2 stroke.

Bracket racing is boring racing. All the rules limiting what you can ride leads more to bracket racing more then outright who is the fastest and who can build the fastest bike.

The side effect of the rules is it shapes the market, which the market should shape the racing imo.

If you make it bigger like MXA has talked or more of a torque motor you may lose the magic that it has.

If you want 50hp just rev it to 11,500 instead of 13,000. Laughing

i think a long stroked 350 would be lackluster. The old ktm 450 rfs engines were lackluster. Double the stroke of current models almost. You need the short stroke to get the hp up And make them racey.

just buy a 14-16 crf honda 450 it has 50hp good torque and a very easy to ride engine.

I'm reading all I can on the 2017 yz250XF or yz 250X and transitioning into the off road / single track stuff and moving away from pure moto, maybe the occasional ride day.

I rode a 150sx on a tight indoor sx track last night and it may work also....

One thing I know, I've bought my last 450.

I built my "last mx bike" just over a year ago and I'm really happy with it.

It's just a 2013 YZ250 with a GYTR heavy flywheel and a 36mm Lectron carb. Everything else is stock. I started my racing shenanigans on an 1987 YZ250, it seems fitting I end on the same bike.

If I had a million dollar engineering budget and had to write down on paper what I wanted to build, It would be a 218 lb bike with a smooth power delivery around 44 hp and SSS forks. Now that's exactly what I have. My CRF450 has left the building.
