The theif managed to delay all his court hearings until a year later.....when I happen to be back in California for SX again. Guess who is going to show up and make a statement to the judge this Monday at his sentencing court date.. Me
From what I hear, being there and expressing your views to the judge could possibly give the theif a longer sentence so I'm going to do my part.
If anyone in the area wants to come hang out it's Monday at 1:30pm in Ventura County.

I mentally prepared myself to be disappointed at the sentencing, but I was mad as hell once I left!!!! Just before I was given the opportunity to make a statement, the defense attorney asked for continuance and it was immediately granted. How does ANYTHING get done in California with a system like that.
I still made a statement and basically said my dirt bike is my source of income for the first 4-5 months of the year and I hope he gets the sentencing he deserves. I wish I had stayed and asked why the hell it got pushed back again, but I just had to walk out.
Well, I did what I could with what I had so the rest is up to the court system.
Average Joe, I think you covered it pretty well.
The deal looks like he plead guilty to the lesser charge 496PC (receiving stolen property)?
From the docket below:
02/05/2016 Felony charge 10851(a) VC filed as count 1 with violation date of 01/24/16 12:40:00
I love the USA, steal a motorcycle and just say, borrowed it, if that doesn't work, say it was joy riding fun.
Expect a misdemeanor with fines and summary probation?
I have taken a personal interest in this as , I met Michael a couple of days after he got his bike back, kept it contact. This year we were back over and hung out abit at A2, and Glendale SX.
I can feel Michael's frustation.

You guys got to admit, the system should work to err on the side of not penalizing an innocent man.
But, this guy has a record. 2 times a felon. He knows how things work, he's already admitted guilt.
His counsel can't make it, aren't ready, whatever. His problem.
The judge is derelict in his duty to the public Imo.
One continuance and that's it, sentence him and move on.
It's not like they're gonna chop his right hand off or anything.
Well the defense had to of cost 20k.
A person could buy a pretty sweet KTM 450 for 20k!
Hindsight....
The guy who stole/had my bike plead guilty to the following: Burglary second degree, Receiving stolen property, Unlawful taking of vehicle. He received a few months in jail and two years on probation. GEICO took care of me very well given how new the bike was and I was just out the $500 deductible to replace the bike.
I’m owed $500 in restitution for the insurance deductible and $50 for a new lock/chain but haven’t seen a penny of it yet. I called the probation officer and he said that I actually had $100 or so waiting to be mailed to me… but that was a month or two ago.
We tried to get someone to ask the guy where the three other bikes are (since we have reasonable suspicion to believe he knows) but it’s been nary impossible to talk to anyone. Stolen dirt bikes are small, small potatoes.
