I heard he was awake signing autographs while the surgeons were working.

Not even close. That's a small incision under the base of the thumb... I have one.

Heres another example. Pins not protruding here, but you can see insertion holes. Could be a combo repair with Peick too.

Jesus why do the assholes just staple the fuck out of it.... I always ask to have #7 line and lightly pulled together to not have such ridiculous scarring (certainly over a tat) ..... Never had a surgeon not do that.

Not nearly as disturbing to look at as Ken's, but gnarly nonetheless.

I assumed they would all be the same surgery, but maybe it depends on the surgeon. Mine is just about 1 1/2" long on my wrist and the bottom of my thumb.

This above comment is so right!!! I'm from a family of doc's and have had some staples. The reason you get staples is the doc is lazy! And they hurt a lot depending on where they are. Demand stitches... it's your body not theirs... especially in an area where you can see it.

That doctor is a lazy asshole for doing that to him. Demand a cosmetic closure. This pisses me off seeing this stuff.
Infact, I had knee surgery by a doc that was one of the first to do the fellow ship program with Richard Steadman. The Steadman clinic is the clinic where Roczen went. This guy did it back when Steadman was in S. Lake Tahoe before someone gave him a lot of money to move to Colorado. These guys would have never done that to someone. Steadman was known to be very particular about cleaning up stuff- internal - before closing wounds. He took his time... was clean and particular. He used a lot of common sense. He was very involved with the early use of the CTI knee braces. I believe he invested in the company.... I actually got one for each leg after the surgery (and some prick ripped them off a few years ago). Steadman was/is a Very progressive guy looking to help people.

What a prick this doc is that did this in my opinion. Let's cut open his arm and put a bunch of staples in it.

Exactly. Low Range of motion in wrist equals a 1/4 turn throttle! I know... lol

There is a school of thought that staples reduce the incidence of dehiscence (especially at joints). However, the reality is staples are eaiser and faster. Having that been said, often times (especially ortho) the surgeon is already gone before closure happens and a first assist RN, PA, NP, etc., does it as part if their job. They are supposed to dedicate time to closing but they also seem to hit the easy button too.

Staples are a good option in scalp lacerations because hair blends in with the suturing material and process.

Same for me on my scaphoid except my surgeon used tape on the incision and its barely noticeable. Mine was 15 years ago also, still lacking 15-20 degrees extension and pops and snaps with weather and locks up when handwriting... im right handed.

Yeh that's not good on his right hand

I had a similar injury. Scaphoid and heavy ligament damage. Nasty injury, took 12 weeks just for my scaphoid to heal. Really slow healing bone so he won't be out there anytime soon. I also had hardly any movement aswel.

Saying that I'm sure mcelrath had a similar injury and doesn't seem to be bothering him too much. I'm sure I saw a clip he was saying he doesn't have much movement at all on his throttle side.

Looks ugly. Don't think we will be seeing him on a track anytime soon.

Does JGR have a replacement?

Not to get to much into this, but I've often found this statement curious. It isn't inherently a throttle hand. I mean, mechanically, a throttle can be on whichever hand we want it to be on... a learned behavior.

Sources say they had to use a screw made of adamantium.
