Has there been any recent interviews with him?
Have any journalists enquired about his recent form?

His championship battles with Dungey and Canard were two of my favourites to follow.
Especially how humble he was in defeat with a bust shoulder towards Canard. Never really understood the hate towards this guy.

I have said time and time again that one of the worst things that happend in our sport at least from a fans perspective is that CP did not race 450 SX coming off of his two 250 SX titles. There is zero doubt in my mind that if he moves up for the 2011 SX season he would have multiple 450 SX wins at the very least.
Yep, completley agree.

Narrowly losing those two Outdoor titles obviously didn't help but getting left high and dry by Kawasaki really crushed the momentum he'd built up since returning to racing. Sadly I think he's been a bit lost ever since.

All I know is , is that if CP is totally done , it's a complete bummer. Was always so cool to see him show up on race day when he was " On." He seriously has one of the coolest styles and best techniques on a dirt bike I've ever seen.

Maybe , just maybe he's only done with SX this season , to let something heal? Figure something else out? And we get to see him back out there for the outdoors? That's what I hope anyways.

Go to 2:15. He was doing that every lap while leading...probably just to save energy.

To lose the 09 outdoor championship by 11 points after a dnf with 3 motos left in the year was a bummer. Then to have the title essentially locked up the next year and crash out injuring himself at the last race had to be devastating.

Always liked the guys style, you gotta admire how effortless he makes it look. I got a kick of watching him scrub nothing and float around as smooth as can be, never over revving the bike, the opposite of some of his competitors like Barcia, Stroupe, Canard, etc.

I was even more of a fan when I'd hear people booing him. People are asshats. What's not to like about the guy? We're lucky to have talent like CP377 in our series. Hopefully he's not done but the start of SX has been rough.

Another thing Pourcel had to endure was a lot of less-than-stellar fan treatment. I watched him get heckled at Washougal and it was embarrassing. It was also the same year Clemente Desalle podiumed there on a 450, but he didn't get the same attitude from the spectators.

Is there a version of that wheel tap that's not slow-mo? Such a badass shot.

If you find the race online it was the first moto which he won by quite a gap.

One of the best Pourcel moments got to be his win in Brazil in 2012. Worst conditions ever, but he rode that race like a true champ.

Thank you, even more insane when you can put into perspective how fast he was going through that section.

I remember a CP story. If anyone has it, please post. I think it came from Mitch Payton, himself. It was something like...... the Pro Circuit team was out testing and, for some reason, Cristophe didn't want to ride. Finally, at the end of the day, he went out for a couple laps and smoked everybody's lap time. He got back to the the pits and said "What ? Did you think I was no good ? " Ha! Classic CP.

I was there that day. Sucked big time to see him go down. What was worse was the drunk fans screaming F U Frenchy!!! and Go home!!! Then they were all happy that he got hurt and were cheering for Canard.

Here's a few shots I captured of Pourcel in '09 and '10. Hard to take a bad picture of the guy...

Nice vids and pictures. A great stylist. Difficult to do better technically. Without his injury in 07, it is difficult to know how far he could have gone by riding without fear and mastering the scrub like Canard. He was also tough to fully understand initially; his communication improved a lot in the later part of his career. Bummer that the delayed transition/loss of momentum to the 450 SX but also some major injuries or bad luck confidence wise kept him from really seeing all he had. Happy that he still got the opportunity to give it a shot and that he can start safer racing healthy. He comes back from far. France lose a lot with this semi retirement, like the PC stats from a few days ago, this level of talent comes from our country only once or twice per generation, and like Pichon he brought a very talented one. Probs to the rockstar husky team as well, classy from A to Z.

One of the best, when he applies himself. I suspect it's not the end for him yet.
