When people place their hand over the end of their exhaust when warming up their bike.

Never understood that one

You start it, you rev it a few times low rpm style, about halfway to the track opening 60 secs later you turn off the choke and pin it for practice, and your good for the day. That's all the thermal expansion a 4-stroke ever needs.

BTW that's the exact way you break in a 4 stroke, except maybe warm it up an extra minute or 2, watch the revs and listen for problems the first lap; after that break it in like you want it to run and your good to go.

I've never taken a bike to the shop - do my own pistons (3-4 a year) and I've changed my crank once on my 06 CRF 490 - which I literally wouldn't trade for a 2016 - even though I could sell it and buy 2 06's it would take forever to set up like I like it and I truly feel my 06 bigbore handles better, is faster and easier to ride than anything I line up against. However the 06 IS being sold for a new 17!

2 strokes are different story, you do want that baby warm for the start, but cleaning it out by holding it wide open is comical.
Four strokes have a choke?

Bunch of petty mofos at the track, damn. I do hate pooping in portos with braces on though.

Four stroke on the line smashing the rev limiter is the dumbest thing in mx
How's wearing a pair of running shoes going to help your corner speed?

There's a local track here that is awesome but they split the practices into 4-5 sections. 50s, 65-85, C, A-B, and quads. Why can't the 50-85s ride together? There are usually about five 50s there and they get their own half hour or whatever. I get that they paid but the place has a nice mini track and they could definitely ride with the other 5-10 65s and 85s. The mini practices take an hour and everyone gets about an hour and a half or ride time for the whole day and $40. Do we really need to split into five practices!?
If you think 50s should ride with 85s you probably haven't seen a kid on a 50 get plowed by a kid on an 85. It's a HORRIBLE idea to have 50s and 85s on the track at the same time.

I do it sometimes, just checking to see if the exhaust is getting warm. Don't wanna put her in gear till some heat is coming out the pipe and through the rads.

Professional practice riders that come in to the shop and tell me they're going to englishtown Wednesday to practice for the up coming race, and then never go to the race, what the hell is that about?

We had a mud race one time. They call you to the line from left to right one by one. The guy next to me went to the line ahead of me and pinched my line out. He got called on it by the race official which made him get out of line to go re-enter. Well, when he got out of line, he spun his wheels intentionally and soaked me and my goggles with mud. Moron.

I agree with Pete, sharing a track with ATV's is pretty high on the list.

Parents who let their kids make an oval track in the pits on race day. Seems like they are away from their pits and close to mine.

Shit talkers. You know, that guy that comes over uninvited to tell you his life story. Usually it's about how fast or great he WAS but now because of some injury or cancer or his dead mother, can no longer be national level speed. Then you see him ride and know he is full of it. I've been lucky enough to ride tracks from Broome-Tioga to Monster Mountain to Pala and there is always that guy.

^^^^this!!!! Per capita Motocross seems to take the gold on this. It blows my mind. In my 40+ years of being around motocross I can't count how many of these guys I have run across. We have a local one that has been going strong for 15+ years and in story gets faster and faster every year and the list of guys that he raced against gets longer and longer...

I'm always nice to these guys, I'm not a dick, but it is funny. Ever notice they usually give themselves a nickname like "The Bullet" or something similar?
And if and when you see them on the track riding, you can clearly see in their form on the bike that they never made it past intermediate class......Even old slow fast guys still have some fast guy form that you can see if you watch. Not to mention even old, slow fast guys still can haul for a lap or two...Smile

Just watch a guy go through corners and that alone will usually tell you if he has or had skills at all.

Not nearly as irritating as threads with cryptic one word titles. Seriously.

Don't normally take the time to click on cryptic threads but since it is the holidays I was being generous. Really don't understand why it is difficult for many to have a thread title that relates to the subject of the thread. Ditto for e mails.

1. Sand baggers that are way to fast for C class that rev the shit out of the bike like I am supposed to get out of the way. If your so damn fast..pass me.

1.5 Guys that do pass me by trying to push me off the track or doing some sketchy shit. Im older and don't give a fuck about a trophy, Ive got no prob Chad Reeding you Mr Stewart, lapped or not. You want blue flags..get out of C class.

2. People that are just way to hard core on their kids.

3. Parents that let their kids ride pit pikes without a helmet. Some of these kids are faster through the pits than they are on the track.

Speaking of starts, I hate when the gate drops and I'm in neutral. Or when I try to start my bike with the buttplug in. Or when I start heading for the track with the fork saver still wedged in my fork.
