I have been lurking the build thread for some time now, and figured I would share my project with yall. The bike is a 2006 RM250 which I bought off CL in the summer of 2014. Version 1.0 was completed and in the winter of 2015. Long story short, after spending some time riding the bike, there were some changes and updates that I wanted to make which paved the way to version 2.0. Presently the motor is being finished up by my brother. He will chime in with pictures and info as well as he has helped out a ton on this project over the last couple years.

The day I bought it:

Winter of 2015:

Summer of 2016 before the start of build 2.0:

Some photos of changes for the updated build:

And much more to come...

Hello guys. I this dudes brother. Helping him out, doing the engine build and misc fabrication issues getting shit to fit that isn't supposed to fit. I have another build thread of my own over on performancetrucks dot net. Here some pics of the engine build.

Here are some in progress engine pics.

Fully REM polished trans pieces and then Microblue’d

Cases with the new Microblue bearings

Quick homemade jig to confirm crank true after the balance job

Some of the bottom end pieces cleaned for final assembly laid out

Crankshaft installation

More pics of case halves, crank/rod and trans components ready to slam the cases together

More random shit:

New Shifter pawls

Another random REM/Microblue treated trans pic

Case halves getting ready to go together

Case halves together, more progress pics

The only billet linkage we could find was for the newer 4 stroke Suzuki’s. Unfortunately, the new bikes use an M6 threaded stud and this master uses an M8 threaded stud. No big deal. Drilled it out and tapped it. If you pay attention to the first few pics, you can see my method to center the clevis in the drill press for a precision job.

No, staying with the stock hubs turned down by TCR and mag coated along with the black spokes and nipples.

I've got 2 different cylinder heads for this thing, so I'll be doing a little bit of tech stuff tomorrow to decide which one we are gonna run so first order of business is getting everything cc'd to see where we are gonna be compression ratio wise then I'll get a clay print of the quinch band as they were both cut by different 2 stroke porters.

After doing the blueprint work on the compression ratio all that will left is assembling the top end and putting the carb/reed cage on it. The rest of the bike is pretty much ready to go, so it won't be long till we can twist it and see how nasty it's gonna be.

After all the crazy attention to detail on this bike (basically you could call it a complete blueprint build) I'm am very anxious to see how well we did. I have a feeling it'll have the potential to hurt some feeling out on the track.

While this was a close to "no budget" build, I'm really ready to do another that is truly an open check book build whether it is a 2 stroke or 4 stroke.

I'd be nice to be able to secure some sponsorship for a privateer build and see if we could compete with the big boys. .

What do you guys think?

Also, if anyone is interested I can do some over the top "pit bike" builds as well.

Stay tuned for mine, it's gonna be a riot.

Got some new found issues with the top end to line out. Looks like it could hold us back hopefully less than a week. Here is a little mock up the owner hasn't posted yet.

Latest mock-up looking absolutely killer.
Few quick questions;
1) What did you use to clean the engine cases
2) What are the colors and type of coatings on the clutch side cover and rear master cylinder?

This thing looks really bad ass! Great job guys.

Are you going to get some frame guards? I used grip tape too, just doesn't last.

Hoping for some carbon ones at some point.
