Shifter level or high?

People ride with their toes up or under their shifter at all times? Wtf

You should be riding on the balls of your feet so your foot should only be on top of or below the shifter when shifting. I run mine about level though.

If you raise your shifter you are riding/shifting with poor form. To shift a raised shifter you are having to lift your whole foot off the peg or lean back excessively to shift it with your toes.
Never raise your shifter.

Level. Easiest way to shift. My little brother runs his one tooth above level and it feels like I'm hanging off the rear fender to get it to shift

I'm glad to see the question. I recently moved mine up for a few reasons that may not work for everyone, That's why they call them personal settings. I happen to be 6'0" and 58 years old and only get to ride a few Sunday's a month so I am not some super fit Pro looking to stand a bunch, or be on the balls of my feet wearing myself out in 2 laps.

*With a level shifter you will see that most riders ride with their foot pointed outward to avoid touching the shifter during jumps and whoops etc. It make sense for you foot, knee and leg to be straight. Better control.

* Try placing an empty boot on your footpeg and under the shifter and see what angle it creates (way forward). Having the shifter up allows you to keep your foot in one position unless downshifting. I find it easier to raise my foot to downshift under braking than to lower my foot under acceleration. So saving energy by less movement is a benefit to me.

One up. I wear size 13 boots and I've snagged my boot tip on ruts and stumps before trying to get below the shifter....and that shit hurts! If I had normal human feet I would run it level.

I recently went from level to up one. Switched to fly sector boot and the toe box is higher and I didn't feel comfortable with a level shifter. My hopes are after the boot breaks in a little I will be able to go back to level.

Anyone shift with their heel on starts or coming out of a corner into 2nd as they bring a leg back in? Levels always worked for me best to not catch anything with a size 12, but I don't mind it raised just a bit from level, not that much movement to engage a shit..

Run it a on the higher side. If you have to point your foot down and drop your knee to make an upshift than your shifter is to low.

Level.....but it seems like the stock splines always result in too much movement when you try to adjust. If you change it one notch, that is way too much movement. So an after market shifter with some adjustment on the cleat height may be needed for some.

I really like Zeta revolver shift lever, because it has lot more adjustability than then stock lever. It has really improved my shifting because I have the shift pedal right where I want it to be.
