Just noting that you MXMatti are placing value on the opinion of an old guy. That was ridiculed in another thread where posts just started disappearing from three pages to one today. And the supposed old guy says he was born in 1981. Every day is like a whole new episode of "As the Vitards Turn"...or better yet, "The Young and the Vitards". Laughing Laughing Laughing

Good stuff though, and there was a point in time that "World Champion" meant a lot more than it does today. Damn shame really.

I think that DC/National promoters should rename the National series to "The Lucas Oil Intergalactic Motocross Championship".

That'd obviously be much more prestigious than any silly World Championship......

Who cares what the spectators think, or what a champion from a different discipline thinks? I'm more interested in what a racer who has experienced both thinks. I'd like to hear KR94's thoughts on this.

Yeah indeed, I try but to be honest. Just as a fan (not to be a troll or something) how cool would it be if someone like Forkner or someone like Prado could win all championship in the AMA and MXGP series!

WCMX2 series - AMA 250 Outdoors - Both coasts 250 SX
MXGP Series - AMA 450 Outdoors - Supercross Class

Riders like Mike Brown, Ryan Hughs and even someone like Jimmy Albertson just gets more attention in the States because they raced in Europe. Racing both can be beneficial I think, and for outsiders looking in the name 'World Champion' sounds more prestigious. Without saying if that is also the case.

Brown and Hughes gained some experience racing across the pond. Neither had a real good showing but when Brownie got back I was quite amazed at the corner speed he was showing. And it was in SX no less. He was off the hook railing stuff. Vohland was on fire when he got back as well giving RC an occasional fit as I recall.

I think people will be amazed with what Darian Sanayei his progress. Next season he will be in the race for the Championship on that Dixon Kawasaki

RV's difficulties were more from a lack of preparation and him not wanting to race the final year of his contract. The way the race program is run in MXGP with the extra race for gate pick probably had something to do with it also.

I don't think that one series is more difficult than the other. They are just very different from one another.

Winning back to back AMA championships, then going out and winning the mxgp , would be an awesome feat and really the only greater feat than what RC has done , to this date.
Although RC's many championships and undefeated seasons are still a powerful statement.

I dont know but i believe Ken Roczen is pretty close in becoming a champion in almost every class he's only missing out on a 250 outdoor title and a 450 sx title That 450 SX title is probably something for next year, and who knows if Kenny decides to retire in Europe in the last 2 years he maybe could clinch that 450 world championship.

Word on the street was Gary could dish it out, but couldn't take it. He caught Werner with his weenie out, jumped him from behind, and got one lucky punch before Bill put him in a headlock. If not for the bouncers coming in, Gary would have probably taken a major ass kicking.

The tension from 75-76 came from many different angles, many created by Scott's own perception, not reality.

And I too have a question about Romero , concerning the late Jay Ridgeway.
