In moto2 he reminded me of what all riders can do, make one little error which causes a DNF, can happen to anyone ...and has frequently in the past

Personally, I think going out and winning 2 out of 3 races on a bike you've barely ridden is pretty impressive. Yeah, he fucked up and crashed, but overall I think he has to be pleased with where he's at. I think he's going to be hard to beat in '17.
I have this feeling Kenny has had a lot more time on that bike with the guys at Honda than the media would have us believe. He looked pretty damn dialed out there last night...moreso than Tomac, and that ain't exactly Eli's first lap on the Kawasaki.

Have to say it was a very impressive debut for K-Roc / Honda. Until that miscue. Brought back a flash from when the Honda bit Chad ( once indoors, once outdoors ) and also Tomac. Both riders were REALLY pushing it. I know it can happen on any bike but starting to wonder if the Honda makes one feel you can go faster than you should and then gives little warning when it lets go.

Or it was just a mistake by Roczen and a coincidence they were all on a red machine. He def looks good on the bike.

The pressure on Roczen is that he wants to be the guy that puts Honda back on top. Similar to Vettel going to Ferrari.

BTW - what did happen to Reed? Saw him tumble off to the left side of the track. Did he tangle with someone or just pilot error?

Kenny is smooth and calculated but yes mistakes do happen
Now he may not look amazing, back in the day he did until he ate shit.

I think that's what he is trying to say.

I was thinking the same thing when be ejected, he did have the other mistake that made him case the jump that blew the championship for him too. It's still early to draw a conclusion "YET", but it's starting to become suspect. RD has made a living off of guys like that.

First thing that came to my mind was Stewart at Daytona 2011.

Moto 3 He was much more reserved, Impressive but sketchy.
I think KR looked better in the first race. He pulled away and killed it. I seen a few little mistakes in 2nd race, just before he had his yard sale! I think ET was starting to apply pressure, he blew that turn b4 he crashed.

Eh, not really. IIRC Stew put like 4+ seconds on the guys in one lap. KRoc wasn't going THAT much faster than everybody else

As a fan of the sport, and not just a fan boy, there are distinct differences in those two. Nobody on this planet could do what James did on a bike, but Kenny is pretty much Windham smooth in comparison.

Kroc looked like he was pushing last night. Very aggressive on the bike and lots of body language all over that thing. Maybe he wanted to prove a point and establish himself again on the new bike? Who knows.

He's smart enough to dial it back a few notches though maybe this will serve a reminder to him for the upcoming season to stay in it to win it!

True, although I was mainly referring to the style of crash and the fact that both times the guys were out front and made mistakes in the previous corner.

A great rider will adjust to any bike if confidence is high, I'm sick and tired of hearing how Eli took a while to adapt and to be honest he's still not 100%.. the problem with Eli is his shoulders anyone who's done any injury to a shoulder or both shoulders knows exactly how bad it can be to recover... most cases the shoulder will never feel the same.

Had Eli gone on and dominate the outdoors in 2015 he would have showed up at A1 with pure confidence on the Kawi.

Ken looked great . But One DNF next year like that , and its almost impossible to beat Dungey for the title .I was impressed with how Dungey picked up his pace in the 3 moto and passed Tomac back.

Hold on a second here. James in his prime was the perfect rider barring one major exception and it was none of those things

Haha one crash after a totally dominant performance in the summer and he is the next Stewart.....Vital.
Couldn't agree more, dude was rock solid then had a couple weeks on a completely new bike. It's to be expected.

better than previous years CHECK JGR SWITCH there were NO PRIVAT TEAMS let alone riders interested in a SUZUKI before Ken's domination

and now all of a sudden the suzuki is making his comeback there r more people interested in them there r more teams interested in them there r more riders interested in them and older owners realise there bike is not that bad compared to all those guys that buy a new one every year while they ride there 5 year old bike and probably still smoke them.

I'm not a fan of suzuki myself never was and never will probably, yes i have owned one and raced a full season on it and it was more than good enough for me but could not get used to the handling coming from a Honda ( rider preference has nothing to do with the quality of the bike itself )

If you think that wins and championships don't translate into sales you'r fooling yourself, take yourself back in time when Dungey signed with KTM that bike was a POS according too 90% of this forum. It would ruin his career. Please go check all threads about the KTM's now how much more love they r getting and about 70% of the forum says the bike is awesome and how good they look. thats a 60% percent swing in a positive direction for KTM thanks to DUNGEY and his WINS.
Now go back in time to your local track before Dungey signed with them and go have a look now i'm pretty sure there will be a lot more KTM owners and riders. There's even a disease called bleeding orange these days so that in itself speaks volume as a statement that wins do sell bikes.
Let's be fair, the bike RD5 is winning on is not the same bike that everyone complained about.
When you have Roger building a bike for you vs hiring a guy to ride a bike you've already developed it's different.
Having said that, Kenny looked dialed in.

So... what, 25 crashes in 10 years of racing, 8 of them caused by other dudes.

Maybe 30 events a year, at the very least 60 gates drops, so maybe 4% of the time he crashes.

I think that's what he is trying to say.
He never looked amazing imo yes he was fastest on this planet during that time and very exiting to watch, but he never ever looked to be in control or as smooth like Kenny has been showing during his professional career.
James strength came from holding it wide open on whatever part of the track he was he had absolutely no fluency or what you could call good lines. He was Fast and that made everyone crazy for him to say he was amazing is a stretch, the only thing where he would have been amazing at would be speed but it stops there.

Thats the reason why James is more likely to crash out than K-dub for example, His age and his overall fitness does not allow him anymore to hang it out like he used to do.
Does he still have flashes of (brilliance) what you like to call it. YES, it are very short sections or parts of races, as soon as fatigue sets in he's done and has a higher crash percentage than any other rider on the planet. This comes true age and lack of fitness and with fitness i mean mental fitness.
James has almost never had a crash where he did not sustained a serious head injury (multiple concussions) His brain does not allow him anymore to do that kind of things like he used to be able too, He can go train with Aldon again or anyone for that matter physically fit does not cut it anymore for James he has taken to many shots in the head.

Do i love JS7? Hell yeah he's the most badass rider to ever throw a leg over a bike and would love to see him close his career on a high note and with dignity. He did not deserve his penalty after the PED shit, but this things happen and i hope he can find the peace in his mind to walk away in time before he sustaines a life changing injury just to prove he still has it, because i believe that James has a lot more to offer too this society than just being freaky fast.

I think Kenny is going to be riding with a lot of pressure in 2017. Not just from the other riders, but from Honda to win. You don't dump that kind of money into a rider without expecting a lot of wins, though I could be wrong.

Pressure from Honda i hope your joking right, Kenny himself does not want anything else than a win there is no need for pressure and Honda knows that, the only thing they need to do is let Kenny be Kenny and let him decide how he wants the bike, wins will come and fast as you have seen yesterday.

I'm even sure there r plenty of people that will order a brand new Honda this Monday just because of what Kenny did after just 3 weeks on that bike. WINS sell bikes and thats why Kenny has so much value for teams and brands he's a winner. You cant get a better sales person than an athlete who wins and is generally very much apreciated and loved by the fans
Actually, no, I'm not joking. Can you really sit there and honestly tell me that Honda is going to pluck down $12+/- Million on a guy and not expect wins. Yea, OK dude. Whatever you say. You're the one with the crystal ball, not me.

I don't recall Roczen having many crashes so far in his career either. Especially outdoors. Only time he has missed races was last year.

He reminded me of RV from the first gate drop. Checked out. A mistake kept him from being even richer. RV did similar mistakes in his VERY successful carreer.

I know Honda is expecting wins out of him if they did not they would not hire him obviously, what i said is that Honda does not need to apply pressure to him because Kenny is hard on his own and does not want something else than a win. He knows why he got hired and got payed that amount.

I think you're right. Comparing Kenny to RV makes way more sense than comparing him to JS, especially since you could really see that all-out Villopoto style charge from the gate drop. RV made plenty of such small mistakes throughout his career, but was still one of the best riders ever.

Are you sure you are not describing RC? Bubba in his prime was actually incredibly fluent, his ability to link sections of the track together without losing momentum was just incredible. Sure he would let it dance from time to time, but he was in no way shape or form a rider who muscled the bike.

Bubba never made good line choices? Get the fuck outta here bro, you would make a great ama official with your incredible observations.

Think Kroc looked a bit more like villo I think. He will probably go on to dominate the next 4 supercross series and hes only 22 so maybe even more, hes wrapped up 2017 nationals already after this year don't think anyone will turn up.
