I know there are a few lawyers here, I'm very interested to hear their views on this.

I think you are right but how dare you call someone out for it. LMAO

Logo , trade name what ever they call it, I do not think these are any different than counterfeit Rolex watches.

There are 3 guys who have turned those threads into a shitshow of trying to explain copyright law to everbody when they arent even lawyers. NO ONE CARES. If GUYB sees a problem, he will delete the threads, or MXM will be sued into the stone age. Why are you other guys acting like its money from your pockets? I can see leaving one comment, but some of you guys are literally a dozen comments deep over it.

How many of you complaining about a guy making a few jerseys are the same ones always asking for links to pirated content cause you don't want to pay the 6 dollars to watch a race? Raise your hand and be honest. Whistling

aside from this post show me my comments on this subject prior to now.

You seem more vested in this than anyone.

If bad things happen from selling this stuff, they will happen to MXM.

They won't happen to the guys complaining.

So why raise a stink? If there is any risk - you're not the one at risk.

I just don't understand why you give a damn and why it's important enough for you to post a new thread in here.

Its because I read old school moto and Im sick of the thread derails by a couple of internet copyright experts giving opinions on a topic nobody but they care about. My interest begins and ends there. One expert got so mad he said "see you in moto related!" and started this thread.

I'm thinking He gives a damm because it's not legit, it's steeling and He has experience with this sort of thing and knows the legit people have to pay to use other peoples names and logo's.

I give a dam because it's hard enough for companies to make money without people steeling from them.

I'll be honest. Last weekend I tried to find the CBS Sports stream to watch the SMX race. I have Playstation Vue, Netflix, and Amazon Prime and it's not an option. I struggled morally with it, I have paid for CBS Sports for years and rarely watched it. When I dumped Dish a few months ago I lost it. I never got it to work but trying was wrong, I have a six year old son and I'm trying real hard to teach him right from wrong. Even though he doesn't know, I failed on Saturday, I don't try to justify it and I won't do it again.

MXM is actually 100% correct if he has truly researched each logo as he says. Patents, TM's, etc. are only protected for 10 or 15 years depending on which avenue is taken, after that it is open for protection renewal or can be denied and left for the open market or the owner can simply not apply for protection again and it becomes part of the free use market. A lot of butthurt in that thread....

I've owned or been a part of about a half dozen companies with trademarks. I've also produced small run apparel for about half of the OEMs in the powersport industry. I'm not an expert but I have a pretty good grasp of the process and protections.

I'm definitely interested in seeing where this thread goes. I don't care personally, but it sure does seem fishy to me.

I don't want to step on anyone's toes here , but the majority of those companies are multi million and multi billion dollar companies. The fact that a guy uses these old and extinct logo's to re-produce something old school doesn't hurt the bottom line of these huge companies at all. Is it wrong in some people's eyes?....yeah. But is it truly hurting any of those companies?.....No. My opinion is that those old school jersey's are pretty damn cool , and if a guy can make a couple bucks by reproducing something that damn cool , more power to him.

You have to admit....some ( OK , all of them ) are pretty damn Rad!

Umm negative...one is a federal offense and the other is a civil lawsuit (copyright infringement).

No dog in this fight but I was curious. A quick google search brought me to this.

I think MXM's stuff is baddass and if the companies don't care, good on him to have the forethought to grab this niche market.

Jeez, guy is providing something that no one else will, or ever would, that hurts nobody, and you give him a hard time?! I would understand if he was copying and trying to sell modern Fox clothes or Oakley sunglasses. That kind of thing drives me nuts. But this is different, and it'll be a shame if any of this makes MXM go away. Rather, I hope it emboldens him.

I do want to add to what I said above. MXM is also selling things that the companies no longer sell , haven't in years. It's why I brought up how I wouldn't think it's hurting anyone's bottom dollar. A lot of his stuff is 30+ yr old designs that you just can't simply buy any more. For my own selfish reason's , I really hope he keeps making this stuff , because it's totally badass.

I made a reply calling bullshit on his claims, he chose to attack me personally, and say I should thank him for doing something nobody else would. Well there is a reason people won't. I made sure all the companies knew to make their own judgements. Worst case he will get cease and desist letters from a few people. Just because most won't waste the time doesn't make it any less illegal and immoral.

Boom.

All I know is I ordered and have received 2 jerseys and a pit shirt from MXM and they are the shiznit. Looks great, feels great, the detail in the sublimated printing is off the chart and I can't wait to ride in them. Oh, and his customer service was better than any Moto company that I have ever dealt with, so hate on that too while y'all are at it.

The only "steeling" going on here is the strangest boners that some of you Perry Mason's' are getting over this. Go out and ride, you'll feel better. Tongue

I guess you completely overlooked, or disregarded his explanation on having contacted all logo owners, discussing with them what he is doing and having their consent? I mean, it was on the first page of the thread.... have to be a complete dumbass to not see it. Making sure all involved are informed is pretty childish seeing as how he has already been given the ok by all you contacted. Wow....

i really cant figure out why someone gets butt hurt and tries to ruin something good for everyone else. take a deep breath and let it go. if JT decides to make a David Bailey replica from 1983 , i would buy it from them, but they haven't so i bought it from MXM. excellent quality.

I saw a very vague reference to conversations with every company that's still around followed by justification as to why the marks weren't enforceable. You don't just call someone on the phone and get legal authority. Surely there is a paper trail, he is free to back up his claims and I will gladly apologize.

It bit the dust due to spam level.

Also, I do think it's questionable about the logo usage.
