The BEST boots i ever wore in terms of feel and performance were circa 2002-2004 Fox Forma Pro boots, the boots the made the James Stewart replica boots where they had the Zebra striped insides and were sort of a pearl white. The fact that they were JS replicas or white wasnt the reason they were so good Fox also made them in regular models and i swear they were sooooo comfortable and kept me so in tune with my bike, matter of fact i still have them hoping i can magically get them repaired and the buckles were bitchin too. Im probably on an island of one here but i friggin loved those boots and would buy nothing but them if i could for the restnof my life. These boots right here ....

I have a pair of tech 8s, this is my 3rd pair, really like the fit, feel and quality.
Have tried Sidi and Fox in the past as well as a couple of pairs of tech 6s and others I have probably forgotten.

Another vote for the sg12's. i have worn every major boot company at some point except for the sidi's over the last 23yrs and lately rolled with the sg10's until the 12s came out. gaerne has been hands down most comfortable boot and I've always felt like they have literally zero break in time, great ankle support with the hinged ankle, and the soles last a long time and are even replaceable if warranted. almost all of the other bolts, buckles, and parts are replaceable as well. though I can't lie I've been very interested in eventually getting my hands on some sidi's because these unanimously have seemed to be the only other comparison ive heard of

Have a pair of SIDI crossfire 2s. Like them except for one thing...if doing some technical slow trail riding there have been a few times that the hinged plastic area has caught on the bike (usually footpeg) and thrown me off balance for a moment.

Tried many boots and brands, knew instantly I was home when I slipped into the Gaernes for the first time. They felt like house slippers from day 1.

I have slightly wide feet, btw.

Just looked at the current poll results and Astars are still on top. Wow. Ive owned 'em and think they are one of the worst boots out there. Ive had snow ski boots that werent as stiff. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

The last pair I had before I finally broke down and bought Sidi.

Fox Instincts. I've ran the Tech 8's and Crossfire's and it's a perfect mix of the two. Tech 8's were big and bulky but protective and the Sidi's were super comfy and flexed well but didn't offer the protection I wanted.

For the record, I think boots are like helmets and knee braces. They all fit differently so those that work well for some foot types don't work so well for others.

Best answer is find a reputable local shop that you trust and try them all on. Even the sizing can be different and since most don't offer half sizes, this is a big component. It's always a bit of a risk buying boots, helmets, and knee braces because you don't actually get to ride in them before purchasing. I've bought a helmet and knee braces online based off of reviews and ended up selling both after actually riding in them. Won't make that mistake again.

I agree. I've tried most every boot(except Sidi). Astars don't last. SG10/12's are damn heavy. FOX wear quickly. The G reacts have great support, great grip, reasonable weight, look great, last awesome for the price, and the price is right. Hard to beat in my opinion

Same here, best boots I have ever had and I have had a bunch. Fox needs to do another run of them.

Had Sidi's before but the new design was just way, way too narrow for my foot. Went to the new fox instincts and love them. The feel like you're wearing tennis shoes to me. Soles wear a little quick but fox will resolve them for free.

I stopped by the Rocky Mountain ATV warehouse and tried on the Sidi crossfire 2's and the SG 12's...I'm VERY glad I did that. I wear a 10 in pretty much everything...so I had them pull a 10 in the SG12's and the Crossfire 2's...I slipped my foot in the SG12's, and I checked to make sure they weren't actually size 13's or something (I have narrow feet and they felt big (long and wide)...I slipped on the size 10 Sidi's and I had to check to make sure they weren't size 9's (short and tight).

After trying on size 11 Sidi's and size 9 SG12's...because of my narrow feet, the Sidi's fit the best, and I went with them.

Being able to try them on is the only way to go....otherwise, I'd of dropped $500+ on the SG12's and never known the difference.

I really enjoy my Tech 10 RV edition boots. Never was a huge Villo fan but loved the look of them. No complaints after 2 seasons on the most aggro pegs I could buy. I had a big getoff last summer where I flew about 90 feet and fell from 20 feet up, landed feet first on the downslope and walked away. I was sure I was heading for a broken ankle at least. Couldn't believe I walked out of it, neither could the medic, or anyone watching

I am using the new Forma Terras and they are a great boot and way cheaper than A stars, Sidi, and Gaerne.
