Outdoors vs Indoors attendance

For everyone complaining or not, how many Indoor races have you attended compared to Outdoors?

Personally it's probably 20 Indoors to 0 Outdoors since Texas lost its race

Im about the opposite, never been to an SX, but Ive been to probably 20 national races.

outdoors more...because its a closer drive...closest indoor 3hr... closest outdoor 20 min....

I've been to about an equal number of each in my time, but I'm pretty much done with SX. I'd much rather go to an outdoor race. I love seeing "bikes on track" I get a lot more bang for my buck at an outdoor national. Prices are much cheaper too, and I can bring in my own food and drink. I love to be there early and watch practice and qualifying as well as the races. All day event vs 3 hours. It's a no brainer for me. Just the way I roll man. Guess I'm an old timer who's core is MX.

I would much rather go to a SX in person and watch MX on TV in HD . When I was younger I didnt mind hiking around a out door track but now would rather watch from my living room.

What percentage of people at SX vs MX purchase bikes, and products and ride at local tracks.

Have not been to a SX since Deegan ghost rode his 125 at the LA Coliseum. Coliseum and Daytona were the only good SX races. Daytona has sucked ever since it moved to a night race and Bailey stooped designing it. Have been most Nationals at Glenn Helen last 20 years. Hangtown also.
Supercross sucks and it will suck more with each additional race.

Growing Supercross has little to do with the sport of motocross and dirt bikes growing.

I agree but as you probably know MX and dirt biking in general has been shrinking for years and doubt it will grow from participants but if it does grow I think it would be from the spectating side but I doubt that will grow either. It was a affordable niche sport to a big money investment niche sport.

I'm one lucky guy I guess. My wife and I honeymooned at Red Bud. And staying on topic, I've been to way more outdoor races vs SX.

Haven't gone to SX in about 4 years, but have gone to the Ironman National the past 2 years and the Glen Helen GP, and would have gone to Red Bud too if I were free those weekends. I can watch SX live in my living room, and even though you can't see the whole track at a national, there's nothing like being right next to the track.

When I was on the east coast it was Dilla and Broome every year, sometimes Southwick. Been in TX 8 years and did SX the first 2 years. Now I watch it at home, can't say why exactly? I do know that if Freestone came back I'd be all over it! Like someone else said, nothing like being that close to the track.

only 1 SX race per year, at least 2 nationals, sometimes 3.

Next year, no SX and as many nationals as I can make.

Yes. 99% of the time the races will go to nationals and spectators go to SX.

I have literally be asked at a SX, who was #2 on a green bike was while he was winning the championship. As I was trying to be nice and explain, he interrupted me and ordered another beer.

I like SX, but I save my going to races pennies to make it to outdoor races. I love going to any race, I love going to Supercrosses, think they are better to watch at the Stadium, but haven't been to one since 06. Simply a budget choice; I'd rather put the money for a trip down to the Bay Area toward a trip to Washougal.

You're definitely onto something here. I used to love to go to the national at Gatorback. I made it to Daytona in 2015. I went to the first Jax SX, but didn't go back. SX is just a filler for me. I wish they'd bring back a national in Florida. I retire next year and hope to make it to Tennessee (at least). The Daytona race is actually pretty cool. It's still SX, but has kind of an outdoor flavor to it.

I don't like stadium events though. I was traumatized as a young kid by being made to sit next to this really obese woman that was sucking down Budweiser and eating chicken wings like her entire head was a wood chipping machine. To this day I can't be around someone that slurps their food.

I'm fairly new to the sport being that I got my first bike three years ago and started following racing. I have been to Muddy Creek several time because it is so close and I have also been to Unadilla. I'm considering driving six hours to hit up Iron Man National next week as well. I've yet to go to a SX and really have only considered Daytona. I enjoy watching SX on a Saturday night in the winter but MX is more entertaining personally. I love the rough tracks, physicality, and the way they hang it out.

2-3 Natties, 2-3 SX. About even. Enjoy both for different reasons.

But my fav races are the off season one-off deals. Like the two-stroke shootouts and whatnot from Oct-Dec where it's small, but guys like Filthy show up.

I agree. I think you get more bang for your buck at an outdoor national than a SX race. Personally I enjoy the Nationals better than SX. Better racing, better atmosphere, and more action on the track from the two practices and 2 moto's in the day.

I go to A1 and Glen Helen or Hangtown every year. Glen Helen is closer and better to watch. I prefer MX over SX, wife feels the same way.

I'd say I'm about 50/50. There were a few seasons when I went to San Diego, Phoenix and three Anaheims, but then again there were a few seasons when I went to Glen Helen, Hangtown, Washougal and Lakewood.

Been to 3 sx and about a dozen nationals. I'll go to national any day over circuscross. Lame annoying pit party and fireworks and expensive seats and food. If much rather watch 40 bikes go at it than watch all the lcqs heats and semis.

I've attended more SX than MX. The only reason being that there are more SX races that I can attend. Been to MX at both California venues but living in SoCal there have been 2-3 Anaheim events and 1-2 San Diego/LA events compared to 1 SoCal MX event and sometime a MXGP and 1 NorCal event. Someday, I'd like to attend all MX events for a given season, but, that thing called work always gets in the way.
