when will they learn that they can charge 1500$ extra on the bikes too ;P .Why are KTM always judged as if the cost the exact same as other bike s . I am always hearing well i get e start ,or this or that on my KTM . sometime s it even wins shootouts for them because of it . i can put alot of stuff on my bike for 1500$ .the Price of a bike should be considered too . Ie i like what Honda have done with the E start being and extra , keeps the price down

E start would be cool. I'm a Honda man and all they need to do is lose one of the useless pipes off the back and add it. It's 2 pound. (Per the 2016 250 shootout which it didn't fair well in and got bashed for the duals) not to mention it's a g to put fmf exhaust on them.

I think bagging a bike because it has duals shows just how much you don't get why they are there in the first place Smile

As for shootouts you would think that they would be smart enough to know and understand it lol you sure as hell don't get ML bagging them for it.

I have often heard on MOTO GP , live on TV the JAP bike s . the point i have is surely when you are describing a bike its ok ,as you are describing a country JAPAN ,not a person JAPANESE .if someone said it about a rider i d agree and say you should call them that .but when your describing a bike , COME ON !!

Yes, it does. Now let it go and get back to talking about dirt bikes.

I'm actually surprised that Yamaha didn't put it on their '17 bikes. Haven't they had it on their off road line up for at least the last year?

My grandfather, in his boredom as a marine trapped on Bougainville for months, used a saltier term than Jap to refer to the sniper that he tracked down and stabbed in the neck with a knife made from a jeep spring. He was able to find him because he'd quit smoking and could smell the dried fish he was eating.

Eff the Nips, or whatever you want to call them, they tried to kill grandpa

All that aside, it's manufacturers.

My yz450f starts within three easy kicks. Hot cold tipped doesn't matter. 2014. My 12 year old starts it. With tennis shoes on. I honestly think people overkick them when they are panicking. Most guys that got them started quickly seem smooth. I know kicking a kx 500 just right( kind of slow and methodically) always worked like a charm. To be fair, I usually get on bikes when people can't get them to start, and fire them within a couple kicks. I just try to be smooth. I feel like two stroke 250 are harder to start than a four stroke as far as kick pressure needed at this point.

Am I the only one here who doesn't get offended by anything?

Granted i haven't been on this earth 100 years, but I can say with a full heart I have never been offended by someones words.

Never understood the benefit of taking offense, nor do I understand the part where I need to apologize to someone if they took what I said offensively...

But hey, thats just me.
Lots of sensitive peeps anymore. Call me whatever you want and I'll roll on. Some people are looking at the world all wrong.

In Japan any non Japanese is referred to as a gaijin, which is the shorter and more harsh abbreviation of gaikokujin, which translates as alien, or foreigner. Japanese are just as bad with their wording as people are using the shortened term jap. It works both ways. If you take offence to it, you need to harden up.

I've lived here for a long time, I know the origins of gaijin, and I don't care because people who use that word are addressing me. When people use the word Jap, that's a hit on my kids, and it will always piss me off. And none of you have a say in whether it does or not. You want to call me a pussy, a whiner or any of the other things I've been called on this site for standing up for my kids, well, fuck you.

I was honestly just shortening it. Like people say aus or euro but but I see when you look at it in ww2 terms it can sound derogatory.

The thing is when people on this site say "jap" it is 100% an abbreviation of the word "japanese" and I don't think it is said with any malice intended.
Do americans get upset when we call them "yanks" do the english get upset when we call them "poms"? As far as I know they don't.
I don't know your kids yet you say that by me saying the word "jap" I am being racist towards your kids, BULLSHIT! I am simply shortening the word "japanese"

I wouldn't bet on any of the Big 4 making E-start or hydraulic clutches standard kit within the next 5 years at least. Look how long it took for all of them to put big front brake discs the damn things.

how in the hell is it "offending your kids", when exactly zero of us knew that your kids are half Japanese until you started plowing into every single thread on vital where someone is using it as an abbreviation, and accusing people of being racist against your kids, who we again wouldn't know anything about without you bum rushing these threads to announce it to us? The only reason I read any of these threads containing the word Jap in them is because I can assuredly know that you will make an appearance as the most insulted man on vital lol. You must have a Google alert set for the word jap. Nobody is insulting your kids, and it's weird that you keep pretending that we all are for whatever reason.

How valuable is *your time that you can't take an extra two seconds to type five letters and finish spelling the word so there is no ambiguity? I have no idea about the origins of Yank and pom (that's the first time I've ever heard that word), so I have no idea of they were meant to be derogatory or not. Jap and Nip (thanks for bringing your ignorance into the thread jrt) are both derogatory words used against Japanese people.

*I mean the collective your, not you specifically.

I never said anyone was offending my kids, I said they were offending my kids' heritage. How the hell is it so hard for some of you to understand that, since WWII, Jap has been a derogatory word used to describe Japanese people? Would you use the word chink instead of Chinese? Gook instead of Vietnamese? Kike instead of Jewish? Spic instead of Hispanic? I'm guessing probably not, because it's derogatory. So why is Jap any different? It's not an abbreviation, it's insult whether that's the way you meant it or not.
