I know we've seen this over and over, but this guy is the coolest! He kind of reminds me of the lead singer of Puddle of Mudd Smile

Maybe it's like an odometer in an old car hitting 100000 miles... It just rolls back over to zero?

I like that he's buzzing around on the smoker, but he needs to buzz that fuckin stache and mullet.

I stopped by and talked with him and took a few pics of his bike while I was @ Hangtown, for a buddy that is a 2-stroke nut. I remember him growing up racing amateurs, but never talked to him before. One of the most down to earth guys, as well as his mechanic. Very approachable and humble, they are have a blast racing and that's really what it's all about.

Never met Gared but his mechanic is one of my best buds. He is a super cool missippi dude that can actually ride a dirt bike too. I'm super stoked for him.

As much as I like the 125 out there. I think Gerad would be a great fit for motorcycle super store or rock river Yamaha. Would be real badass of Troy lee ktm would snag him and throw him out there under their tent on a 125.

I really do not understand why he is going with a 125 against the 250 4 strokes, seeing he is at a HP disadvantage. He ought to build that thing to a 144 and give himself some sort of chance to compete. Although I think overall the 4 stroke is so much the better race bike that it will take a rider like JS7 to really compete with a 125 against those 250 4 strokes.

What part of rules do people not understand. You cannot run a 144 or anything 2 stroke over a 125 in the 250 class. Him not being competitive is a dumb statement. Getting in the mains is competitive. How many nationals have you made?

He got 28th in the first moto didn't he?
6/4/2016 2:14pm
He is a good racer but it is still like bring a knife to a gun fight, you might get a couple of stabs but that's about it. Professional racing is a job not a fun past time you want fun go to Glamis or Disneyland.

I disagree completely with that statement. Whats so wrong about having fun and making lots of fans racing a pro national on a 125? Besides, Stanky races pro arena cross and racing the nats on a 125 is just for fun. Thats why i like him a lot. All his videos are just fun and laid back. Im glad he doesnt have a completely serious attitude, he shows up at the track in a truck and just goes out, has fun, and beats some thumpers on the smoker.

It's pretty obvious why. We're talking about the guy that has finished in the 30th's every moto, and got a 28th first moto today. Everybody is excited and talking about it. Do you know without looking who finished in 27th? 26th,25th,24th? 15th? That's why he rides the 125. Exposure.

I asked a couple big 250F team how much horsepower they lose at altitude, and that said probably 15 percent. I wouldn't want to guess what he loses on the 125.

I lived in Denver until 2009 and used to ride at Lakewood once or twice a week. I have ridden there on a 250f, 450f and 250 two stroke and it sure felt to me like the two strokes suffered more at altitude than the foopers. I don't have any way to validate that but when I would go ride at sea level the difference was far more noticeable on the smoker.

Just my 2 cents...

I actually predicted that he would not qualify at Lakewood because of the altitude but the Stank Dog made me eat my words. He's a badass for sure.

Not to mention the fact that he is pitting out of the back of his Ford pickup truck.

Racing is a form of marketing. He's marketing himself really well IMO.

Anyone know if he lurks on here?

You said it yourself. It's a job. He gets a lot of exposure on the 125. Sponsors like that.

Thanks for clearing it up. I now know more of why he does it.
1) He is really focused on another series. This is just for fun.
2) He doesn't really care about results, he just wants some exposure.
3) Although the rules are set in such a way that a 2 stroke is at a big disadvantage, and one cannot build it up to make it competitive, or close to competitive he can still qualify on an underpowered machine that he likes to ride.

I am okay with that. He can do what he wants, I just didn't understand his approach. Its good to see him having fun.

Well maybe they cannot fill in the gate with enough of these "professional" racer efforts you speak of due to the expense of campaigning and maintaining the "desired" equipment. As a result you get the guys who qualify for "fun".

Do you think they should cut the class size down to weed out the Stienke's out there who are playing by the rules and making the show based on their heart and honest.efforts? I honestly wouldn't be surprised to hear that option kicked around by the ruling body; especially if more two strokes start showing up.
