The Kawi weight is curb weight which means a full tank of gas. That's about 10 pounds of fuel. KTM lists their bikes without fuel so to compare apples to apples you either have to takeout the fuel weight on the Kawi or add it to the KTM. So the new KTM and new Kawi 250 thumper are about the same weight.

KTM is over 13 pounds lighter stock. That is a BUNCH of weight.

Based on the Kawasaki Info it is with fuel!

**Curb weight includes all necessary materials and fluids to operate correctly, full tank of fuel (more than 90 percent capacity)

All the bikes is a shootout should be fueled up with the same amount of fuel. Lets say 1 gallon or 1.5. Looking forward to a bike test with real world weights including the same tires on all the bikes. That can make a 3 pound difference.

Why? Dry weight takes gas out of the equation. They could put the same amount of gas in every bike (1 gallon) but there's some tolerance in measuring that gallon. And the weight of fuel changes with temp and pressure (think volume)
There's no reason to not state dry weights.

biggest change to the motor in a long time, wonder if the more downdraft/straight intake design and new crank will help it back up to where the yami/KTM is motorwise,

the 450 was a improvement with the chassis and feel of the bike, and it should be the same ,

The 450 hasn't changed much, so Kawie are confident they got it right in 16, with their full model change. Ive been thinking about the new Kawie 250f this year, but am a little hesitant being the first year of a full model change. Might hold out until next year.

Oh... The shroud plastics on the new 250 looks horrible! The 450 looks way better.

That is ofc my own subjective opinion.

The designer of the current one reminds me of the song LUMP "she lingered last in line for brains and the one she got was a little rotten and insane"

Wouldn't this be an awesome marketing tool: you will save $900 when you purchase our bikes, because you won't have to buy a pipe!
The street bikes have ugly mufflers too. My 636 can is big and ugly and big

The 250 is a good looking bike, shrouds and all, like the 450. The best looking front fender of all the mfg's, too, in my opionion. There must be some exec at KHI dating back to 1986 that wrote: "The green fender will never look like 1985 fender ever again. It will always have a natural curve! "

Those shrouds & side plates are ugly as sin (on both bikes).

Second whoever called for seeing green & blue again. I'd love to see silver rims too..

Yep and in 1981 his older brother said: "We will have a front disc brake next year along with water cooling. Eat that Honda!"

What are we going to talk about? It's not like they have a steel frame and electric start to make the bike go faster.

Someday, all jap brands will go back to steel frames and have voice activated start. Also, on the fly push button suspension.

Exactly my thoughts.

I'm more curious on if the bike handles better. My brothers current model has a twitchy front end, yet understeers in corners. The engine vibrates like crazy, the shifting is hideous. Don't get me started on the stock muffler. I don't care much about looks, but the noise is deafening. On top of that the plastics break very easily. Worst thing is their chainguard.

I'm most psyched that they kept the SFF forks. If the other changes translate to what I think they should, this could be the very first KXF I like.
