I gotta tell you that if I were a business and was asked to donate my product to any "moto charity" after seeing these posts I would not. Apparently, he tried and did help a kid who in his own words did nearly nothing to raise any money other than ask Motokid to give him something for free and this place jumps on the guy giving his labor.

Did anyone else step up and donate? Did any of you put several hours into painting a helmet for the kid? Please list what you have done for this charity or any other.

Choclatethunder782 please list your 501c3 tax ID I would love to follow up on your progress and see the funds you have raised are given to the beneficiary.
You don't get it do you? It was the lying that everyone was bashing him for, and he continued to lie even after he was proven wrong. I'm sure the painter is not a bad guy, it's just kinda silly to come on a public forum and bitch, then proceed to prove that YOU were the one being untruthful all in the same post! Blink

Honesty is so underrated these days.

In all fairness, put yourself in the OP's shoes. I've been on the recieving end of a bad deal and got burned. It's got nothing to do with him (painter) donating his time or not.

If the OP is on the up and up, he should post his info and show that he's doing his part and following thru with the donation.

My point is with all the bashing, you are only hurting the next kid that needs help. Why would anyone want to help in anyway when this is the outcome if you are late?

Remember it appears that the only one who actually helped the paralyze rider was Motokid.

I did a search on GOFUNDME and I can't find a charity for James Marshall. May be Choclatethunder could post the link while listing his 501c3 so we can create positive awareness for his cause.

Hey, don't come on here and bash UPS. There's probably two sides to the story and UPS will be here shortly to not explain their side and bitch and moan that they are a business and should be immune to such scrutiny.

You must work for UPS and are here to bitch and moan about me bashing them/you....without explaining your side.

You're still missing the problem. This is the outcome if you LIE and do not communicate with your customer. There is no problem being late (at least no problem worth bringing to vital), it's the fact that the painter lied about shipping the helmet. The painter claimed in the text messages provided by OP to have shipped it Feb. 22nd, when in reality, he only just now shipped it (2 weeks later).

It's "in the mail" now.

It was a great thing for him to paint it for the auction, a little better effort on communicating, would have kept this thread from being started in the first place.

This whole thing is somewhat ridiculous. The helmet was painted for cost on my end it was shipped and now I'm getting bashed through some social keyboard warrior home base. I held up my end and have painted over 100 helmets just this winter and not a single complaint. Pretty wild that someone can try to rouin something you have spent countless nights trying to build out of nothing over some sort of shipping issue. I have insurance on the helmet for starters and the tracking number has been said to be to his location latest Wendsay. If anyone is getting fucked over its me. Running a business and doing this for free to help out a cause and the person in charge of posting and promoting the helmet does more of a job blasting the painter than he does keeping in touch with the point of promoting the auction/raffle in the first place. As he stated above... " barely anyone participated." Below is the picture of the original receipt sent via usps. If he doesn't receive the helmet then I will personally and proudly refund the cost of what was charged to help contribute to a 501c3 company on my end.....also like said above.. Real easy to minupilate texts for others to jump on and see one sided stories.
You're right about the ridiculous part. You told a guy that you shipped his helmet back to him a month ago, when you knew damn well that was a lie. Then you ignored him when he asked about.

You only shipped it back after you noticed you've been called out publicly. You're shady. You have no one to blame but yourself.

Also, lol @ "I insured it". USPS insures up to $50 free and that's what you chose. I know you said if something were to happen to it, you'd pay for the helmet yourself out of pocket, but for some reason I have a hard time believing that...

Sorry, I've just dealt with too many "businesses" like this that I can't deal with lack of communication and blatant lies. Hopefully you learn from this.

I went back and read all the posts, now that I have a better understanding of the situation I'll post again.

There are several people bashing both guys and it seems unnecessary. I can see why chocolate felt the need to make a post, and why Motokid isn't happy about it.
He should have just nutted up and admitted he hadn't gotten around to shipping it yet.

It's a cool raffle item for a great cause, sucks it's getting negative publicity, but maybe this will motivate people jump in the raffle thread Chocolate made over a month ago and toss some donations down.

I donated, and bumped the thread a few times hoping to give it more exposure, unfortunately the thread always ended up buried several pages back pretty quickly.

If you wouldn't have told him you'd already shipped it before Feb 22nd and then start ignoring his attempts to communicate he wouldn't have had to fucking panic. now it looks like you finally shipped it after he called you out on a public forum.

$50 insurance it looks like too. Just so you can say you insured it?

Poor you.

Dude literally just shipped the thing this morning before getting on here to bash the OP. Blink I get it, we all get behind at work, especially when the word "for cost" is involved. Manning up would have been the way to go IMO.
Maybe this helps your point a bit.

receipt printed at 11:41, posts 20 minutes later saying this is rediculous and it's been shipped. Classic. Laughing

Well, this has certainly been entertaining! nytsmaC, you totally ruled that helmet dude.

I thought I got screwed. You said you sent it out a month ago and it never showed up and you never responded to my texts. An update would have been nice

You did get screwed, and if you hadn't made it public what do you think the odds are that you'd ever get that helmet back?

But he's trying to make you look like a dick for bringing it up. Laughing

Haha..I'm just glad Vital doesn't 1. optimize their site by deleted images that aren't being utilized....and 2. randomly generate file names for user uploaded images Smile

MotoKid Paint Bro,
Sometimes you need to take a step back. Rethink things for a couple minutes. Admit you needed a spot on the bench press and give it a go. I forgive you son.

It ended up looking really good. I didn't want to have to do this but it reached a point where I figured it was never going to end up coming back to me.

I tried bumping the thread up a couple times and I saw that a ton of people were clicking on the link but it just wasn't getting any people to donate or put their name in the hat for the drawing. Here is the helmet. It was originally a replica and he painted a fin number and visor to match just like the original, and redid the clear coat.

So how much did this helmet raise and who won it? When were the funds paid to the charity?

I'm not missing anything. The point is, he is the one donating to the charity! He could just tell you all kiss his ass and no funds would have been raised. Plus I highly doubt he will ever offer again. I haven't see a single post say " good work thanks for the donation ".

Nobody said "good work thanks for the donation" because unless this thread was created, it appears as if the helmet painter was never going to follow through in the first place. Just because you're donating to charity doesn't give you the right to lie and string along people.

I'm not sure why I'm taking the bait here, but the funds were donated directly to the gofundme James had going.
Chocolate owned the helmet and sent it to Motokid for the paint job, not really fair to say Chocolate isn't donating anything, is it?

You can check the raffle thread for details if you are actually interested in getting the whole story.
I bumped it a few hours ago, so it's probably on page 2 or 3 now.
Amazing how the drama thread manages to stay up top.
